  1. Well, I got it up where I wanted it to go but I wasn't able to use the chains and hooks that came with it without doing a lot of rigging. So, I just raised the shelf that was already there and put it up on a shelf. It will be just fine up there. My shop is so small that it should turn the air over quite a few times while I'm in there working and I'll set the timer for after I leave the shop. It is fairly quiet on the low speed but gets louder as the speed increases. Still not overly loud. I think it will serve me well.
  2. The young folks of today haven't been taught how to do things so they assume it can't be done. SAD!
  3. Frank, I was about to say the same thing. My Delta is the Chinese version and it works great. Not as nice as the American made one I used to have but it works and I got it pretty cheap. I have been replacing most all of my tools with Harbor Freight and Craigslist stuff. Most everything works just fine for what I do.
  4. Looks like you are doing great.
  5. I'll be happy if it just keeps the dust out of my glasses. Sure can't hurt my lungs either. A 2-fer.
  6. I need your friend. I have nobody to do my welding. I would buy a mig welder but the cheapest, lowest powered one is 90 amps and our park only has 50 amp service. It was built back in the 60's when folks only had one tv and no microwaves. Bummer!
  7. I ordered my Wen air filtration unit 2 days ago and it just arrived. I know what I'm going to be doing today. Whoopee!
  8. I built two saw stands so far. One with four legs and one with 3. I really do like the 3 legged one the best. With that said, I'm sure there is a way to convert your Hawk to a 3 legged stand. Maybe by combining the two front legs into one by overlapping them and then bolting to the center of the table? Just a thought here without actually seeing it in person. Or do away with the two factory legs and build a T to fit up under the table with a center leg? There is always a way if you want it badly enough.
  9. The secret to making that work Dick...make friends with the biggest guy in the group. An enforcer so to speak.
  10. I'm very much the same way. I guess that's why I was quite successful in the mobile tool sales business for almost 40 years. I still want to read Trump's The Art of the Deal. I'm going to before I die.
  11. My point is though, there were no less than 4 bandsaws on C/L for under $300.
  12. I like the way you think Kevin. I'm sure you have Scott thinking now.
  13. I just saw this on local C/L. I don't know where you are but this is what I was talking about. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/d/duro-bandsaw/6730890008.html
  14. Ya got me there Les.
  15. I'll take it too Scott. I'll pay the shipping. All you have to do it box it up.
  16. I agree with Stoney. I bought my Delta 14" with the enclosed base, in like new condition, for $300 on Craigslist too. In fact, I have bought all of my larger tools used off of C/L. With the exception of my Rigid oscillating spindle sander. I got over anxious and bought it new. Not long after I bought it, one showed up on C/L for half of what I paid. So, with that said, don't be in a rush. Be patient and a deal will always come your way.
  17. Actually, I'm not a fan of any sport that uses round balls with the exception of billiards. I am an avid Nascar fan (not Kyle Busch) and college football. Go Trojans.
  18. By RED you do mean Red Sox, right? I hate the Doggers.
  19. Prayers and condolences to his family. Always sad to lose one of our "family".
  20. I'd sure like to know how to do it on my laser printer. I'm going to have to do some research.
  21. I would think there must be a way to do it on an Apple. Aren't they the "do all, end all"? Must be a way. I just did a quick search and came up with this. It may not be the way but I'm sure there must be a way. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204995
  22. Did you try opening them in Irfanview? If you do that, then under the "image" menu there is a "color correction" option. Open that, slide the red button all the way to the right side. It will make your pattern red/pink. Save it as "red" whatever name you gave it. They should be able to print it from that.
  23. A little bit of an update......I cut and applied my patterns to eight pieces of mahogany today. I cut out 2 of the panels and they came out waaaaay better than the ones I cut out of the aromatic cedar. They appear to be much stronger too. I think I might go ahead and get some 1/4" mahogany and recut a couple of the pieces that are cedar. I think in the long run, the whole thing will be stronger. Thanks to all of you for helping me out here. I learned a lot.
  24. Are those hose hold downs magnetic Les? That looks like a great idea. I think I might incorporate something like that on my EX. As for your wheels, I bought 8" wheels with plastic centers and rubber tires. The axle hole is 1/2" so it raise the rear of my saw 4". I didn't want to put them under a platform. I guess that's what you are going to do?
  25. I would bolt it to a board that can be clamped to or bolted to the bench. But if you want it tilted it would be easier to tilt the entire saw on a board and keep it more solidly mounted.
