  1. 14" isn't what I would call small. I have a 14" and it is heavy. I have it on a roller base but when I brought it home in the back of my truck, I had to get help to bring it into my shop.
  2. You know I gotta come see ya now.
  3. We really do need some more icons on this forum. A great big "wow" would be great.
  4. That's gorgeous. You do some fine work.
  5. I just looked to see where Justin is. I see it's a small town but you have an Ace Hdwe. Store. Are you close to it? I also see Rabbit Hole Brewing Co. The place to be would be right in between them.
  6. That definitely works and I see what you mean by oversimplifying. You start to lose some of the detail.
  7. so that it is totally adjustable to my comfort. That way, when I find the right tilt, I just mark where that board is. At some point in the future, I may permanently attach it so that it stays there. So far, I'm not sure where I want it.
  8. When I was a kid, I used to do Aleene's yard/lawn care. Big money. I got $30 a month to mow her lawn every week. And she had a huge yard.
  9. Kevin, all I can say is this.....I bought a set for my EX21 and I love them. I am toying with buying a set for my Dewalt if I decide to keep it. Probably will. Anyway, I'm thinking that if I do buy a set, I might just buy the ones for the EX and put them on the Dewalt. I like the tension lever. It works very smoothly. I can see setting the tension wheel/lever on the Dewalt and leaving it set at that point and just using the tension lever that is on the EX clamps. I think that would be far easier than the way you set the tension on the Dewalt. I realize you have become very accustomed to doing it the Dewalt way so it might not work out for you but having two saws both tensioning the same way would be a big benefit for me. If you do decide to buy a set, you won't be disappointed.
  10. Thanks Bob, but that won't help me learn Inkscape. Right now, I have the drawing open, bit mapped and zoomed to 200%. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to delete the nodes within a "boxed" area. I want to get rid of them and do a node trace of my own with far fewer nodes. I hope I'm making myself clear.
  11. I was just looking at what's available from the LocLine website and I see that they jump from 3/4" up to 2 1/2". I'm wondering how much suction would be lost if I was to run my Fein hose into 1 1/4" pvc and then up to 2 1/2" and then neck it down on the ends to something smaller. I hate to spend money on the LocLine just to find out that it doesn't "suck".
  12. Those are beautiful. Fantastic work. I love it. Great pic too.
  13. If you didn't have much vibration before, chances are you won't notice any change in that department. I didn't either but what I found that did help a lot was to put that foam rubber flooring under all four feet of my stand. That pretty much took all vibration away. I'm referring to what they call "anti-fatigue" mats. I have done the entire floor of my small shop with them. So nice, easy to keep clean and no vibration.
  14. Ok, I saw that but I thought it was to update the drawing being bit mapped. When I open that window, it always displays the last thing that I did so I hit the update key. I'll have to try what you suggested. The one I am working on right now has so many nodes all crammed in around the lines that I thought it might be nice to just draw a box around them and hit the delete key but so far it hasn't worked.
  15. I made a plaque for friends in Tennessee. The scrolled part was painted black and the backer board was painted white. They were both 5/16" thick BB. I didn't glue them at all. I just shot about 4 or 5 5/8" brads in from the backside. I never even thought about gluing them. Hmmmmmm!
  16. I would have to think that gluing first would be the way to go as long as squeeze out is controlled. If it was staining, I'd say the opposite but paint will cover over glue and should stick to it. Just my two cents worth.
  17. That's great news Kevin. Now you can make a ton of saw dust.
  18. I like Texas. Maybe I'll come to you.
  19. Thanks Dave. I wonder if you were to click/drag around the entire drawing if it would delete them all. I'll have to try that. I'm starting to get the hang of this program but it is still very baffling. I'd sure love to have an expert sitting beside me for a couple of hours. Any takers?
  20. You and my wife would NOT get along.
  21. So, if I'm understand you guys correctly, where I connect my Fein to my pvc drops it from 1 1/4" down to 1". Then it goes down ever farther when it enters the LockLine stuff that is 3/4". Should I replumb this thing back up to 1 1/4" pvc all the way to the end? I'm not sure you can buy LockLine in that size.
  22. Thanks Bob but where is "update" on the menu? I can't seem to locate it.
  23. Thanks Dan. I just ordered a gross of Pegas #5 MGT. I was using them on the cedar and they seemed to be the best of what I tried. I don't have any of the FD Polar. I will have to order some.
  24. Absolutely the truth Paul. That's why I have so much unneeded crap laying around. I'm a person who hates to toss something that might be of use. Even if that use never materializes.
  25. Exactly the same problem I have Paul. The hissing sound coming from the nozzle is the loudest thing in my shop. But, I just try to ignore it because there is no "free lunch" so to speak. Something has to make noise. My hearing started going downhill when I was a teenager. I used to go to the drags and loved listening to the Art Arfons jet dragster as it went by me. Then, in the Army, on maneuvers one time, I was unlucky enough to be standing between to M48 tanks as they fired simultaneously. The air turned orange and I couldn't hear for an hour. Then constant ringing in my ears. I sold tools for almost 40 years so I was in and out of all kinds of shops and it was always noisy. I have tinnitis too. So, at 75 years of age, I don't even think about trying to "save" my hearing. I never wear any kind of hearing protection. I just try to make everything I do as quiet as I can. The Fein vac and my dust control system works great but the hissing noise is still bothersome.
