  1. That and the fact there are not many trees in Antartica. R
  2. I have to post this. I just received my shipment of woods from Ocooch Hardwoods. When I place my order I asked them if it wouldn't be too much trouble if they would include a list of what woods they were sending. They not only did what I asked, they took the time to actually label each piece as to what it is. Not every piece actually but I am now able to compare the none labeled pieces to the ones with labels. This is a first class operation. I will be buying from them again. I highly recommend this company. Thanks to the OP who originally spoke of them. Ray
  3. This wood was grown in a mushroom forest in Tasmania. And milled by gnomes. R
  4. I am curious too. What exactly is the problem you are having? Did it start suddenly or come on slowly? It's a very simple mechanism so it can't be anything to bad. Did you make sure when you put the case halves back together that you got the plate back in the slots where the wedge moves against it? If that is all correct, then it's just a matter of going in to the front part where the tension lever is and doing an adjustment on the pull rod. Very easy stuff. Make sure when you put it back together that you get the bushing on the end of the pull rod seated into the tension lever housing. Nothing else to go wrong. R
  5. Why not free up some money and sell it. They go fast if you price it right. R
  6. Hold on. Here ya go. https://www.harborfreight.com/Fluorescent-Magnifying-Lamp-60643.html
  7. Harbor Freight has one for about $40 that comes with either a clamp bracket or the post for the Hegner mount.
  8. Thanks Dan. I never knew that was there. Now, I can spend the rest of the day doing different searches. I love it. R
  9. Yes, Thanks to all. R
  10. That sounds like a great idea for any of us just starting out. Thanks. R
  11. I was just in contact with Travis and it may come to pass. If anybody else thinks it's a good idea, please let Travis know. So far I have been contacted by 4 or 5 Hegner owners so it might be a small group. R
  12. Kevin, what you are talking about would be for a Dremel or similar mini tool. I'm wanting something bigger with at least a 1/4" shaft. R
  13. That was not my intent. It has nothing to do with hijacking threads. I just thought it might be nice to create a group of like minded folks. Sort of like a group of stamp collectors wanting to separate from cooks and recipes. I guess I might have been expecting too much. R
  14. It has come to my attention that I may have offended a member here so please disregard my original topic. It will not be followed up. Sorry but it's not worth offending anybody. Ray
  15. Do you folks prefer a random orbital sander or a finish sander? I have a single speed random orbital but I don't own a finish sander. I'm toying with buying one though. I'd like to hear the general consensus here. I used to own both but when we sold everything, they went away. R
  16. Ver nice stuff Kevin.
  17. Mine is a type 1 also. It all depends on usage. I took mine all apart and found that all it needed was cleaning and greasing. I did find that the main drive link was coming loose though and that was causing the noise/vibration that I was looking for. But, with all that said, $250 max. for a used Dewalt in my book. There are literally thousands of them out there for sale at any given time I'll bet. R
  18. Very nice stuff here. I love them all. Thanks for showing us.
  19. Too much money. No stand, no light, travel to and from to pick it up. You could go out and buy a brand new one for less. Just my opinion here. I bought mine off of C/L with stand and light for $250 and if I wanted to haggle, I probably could have done better. Be patient. Your deal is coming. R
  20. Wow, I did a Google search for these books and it's like they never got printed. There are ISBN numbers but absolutely nothing else comes up. They both showed up on Amazon but not available. The number two book didn't even have a picture. It would be interesting to know how many copies of each were ever printed. Sorry, I can't help you. R
  21. Ok, it's starting to get a bit "testy" here. Not sure where we veered off the correct track. If I am wrong, I humbly apologize. From what I could see on their website, it showed one mandrel, one pack of sandpaper strips and a bunch of spacers. I didn't see any written description of what is included. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong site. Can one of you folks who feel this is a good deal please post a link to the site that you patronized. I tried going to Klingspor and it was a lesson in frustration trying to find the "mops" so I gave up. The other site that was listed early on here is where I saw the picture and pricing. Maybe, I should have been more careful in opening this topic in the first place. I sure didn't want to get anybody upset. Sorry. R
  22. I didn't find that description. If you are correct, then yes, not a bad deal. R
  23. I couldn't get in close enough to see much. Maybe a better pic would help.
  24. Right frame of mind! Ha Ha!
  25. I'm not sure what all is included but I think besides the mandrel and the sandpaper, they are including spacers for between the strips. Sort of like a package of hose washers might do. All in all, a giant rip off. R
