  1. Wow! I just went there and checked them out. There are a few different names but they all seem to be the same for prices going from $12.99 to $19.99. Not sure what the difference might be. They all look good. Ray
  2. Is there a brand name or something that we can plug in when we got to Amazon? I'd like one of those too. Ray
  3. Good to hear that Dave. I'm still getting used to mine. After cutting with the Dewalt, it's a totally different feeling and experience. Ray
  4. Very nice job. I do see what you mean. Ray
  5. Harbor Freight? The whole kit or just the drum? Never mind. I re-read your post and see just the motor. Thanks. I don't have room for anything larger than a 12". I see you have all the room in the world. Lucky you.
  6. It's a great machine. Does so many things.
  7. We never see the Woodworking shows here anymore. The venues became too expensive which drove up the ticket prices and people stopped paying to go buy something. Sad. I miss them. Thanks for your help. I'll find the plans somewhere. The platen is the one thing that will be tough to come by but not impossible. Maybe an old rolling pin would suffice. I don't need anything big. Ray
  8. I like it. Now I 've got something else to build. Thanks for posting the pics. Do you have plans or can you put me on to where I might get them? Rat
  9. This is what I have. I also have a 1" belt sander and a 4 x 36" belt disc sander. I wouldn't give up any one of them. They all serve different purposes. Ray
  10. Thanks. I appreciate your help Kevin.
  11. You made your own drum sander? I'd love to see a pic of that.
  12. Thanks Tony, I'll do another search. If you still have the link, it might help. R
  13. This one certainly makes the most sense. It has no size limits at all. Thanks. R
  14. Here ya go. https://www.amazon.com/Wisdomen-M6X1-0-Thread-Repair-Helical/dp/B071YNM8D8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1519957371&sr=8-6&keywords=m6+x+1.0+thread+repair+kit&dpID=41C16VYB61L&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch R
  15. Check this out. $400 sounds like a fairly good price. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/198903467361846
  16. YOu should be able to find one on Amazon. All you need to know is the size of the threads you want to replace. Or change to. R
  17. Hi all, I have been wanting to try my hand at making a bowl but I have no way to clamp the pieces together. I have seen bowl clamps on a couple of the youtube videos but I have not been able to find any plans for making one. I know it's a simple design but I was wondering if there are different designs. I'd like to make something that would be compatible with bowls from about 3.5" up to maybe 8". The ones I have seen were nothing but a couple of flat round boards with a series of bolts around the outer perimeter. Nothing fancy but I like to look at pics before performing my miracles. So, anybody got any pics or plans? Thanks in advance...... Ray
  18. After doing this, you'll probably never have to do it again. Did you use some thread locker on the helicoil? More than likely, it will never fail. R
  19. I built a stand for my Dewalt and incorporated a top with hinges in the front. I just use a sliding block under it to put the top at whatever angle I like. Once I determine the angle I like, I will problem just put a spacer block in and screw it down. R
  20. There is a huge difference between being "tight" and being "stupid". R
  21. I actually got the idea after reading how much trouble you were having in identifying what you got. They didn't have any exotics when I ordered so all this stuff is domestic. But, it sure is nice knowing what they all are. I have never even seen alder before but now I have a bunch of it. Nice stuff too. R
  22. Check out their website. They don't even offer 24" x 24" in 1/4". R
  23. Just for the heck of it, I just went to their site and ordered 8 pieces 1/4" x 12" x 24". They don't offer it in the same size as that add so I just doubled the order to get the same board footage. It was $10 each but because I was ordering 8, I got it for $8 each. Free shipping to my home in So Cal. $80 total. Something doesn't make sense in that ad. R
  24. Just for the sake of saying, isn't BB usually sold in 5' x 5' panels? At that rate, they are sending a very odd sizing. Or am I wrong? Also, I see that they ship it from the U.S. to anywhere in NZ. Most of that cost has to be in the shipping and import fees. R
  25. When I install a blade in my Dewalt, I put it in the bottom clamp first. Then I pull down on the top arm so that all the slack is out of it. Tighten the blade clamp. Then, tension it. I usually have mine set at about 4 or so depending on the size of the blade. It sounds like you're not getting the slack out of the arms/mechanism prior to tightening the top clamp. The same goes for when I loosen the top clamp to put the blade through the next entry hole. Then do the process all over again. If this doesn't cure your problem, then it's time to take the saw apart. R
