  1. Anybody heard of "Brazilian waxing"? I hear all the women talking about it. I wonder how it works. Ray
  2. I sort of did the same thing when I first got my saw a year or so ago. Then, I got sidetracked on other stuff and am just now getting back to my saw. My first project was a fretwork butterfly. I tried to do a bit of puzzle making and found that I had lost what I thought I had under control so I'm going to do some more practice. But, you are right. I'll probably get bored and try something like this again. Ray
  3. I love this one.
  4. Well Iggy, I have no idea how much farther you plan to go with this "how to" guide but from what I just read, you have done a fantastic job so far. You might even consider putting it up for sale to new folks to the flea market/farmer's market venues. What not make a buck off of it if you can and help others at the same time? Just my opinion. Anyway, keep on writing. It's very interesting. And as a side thought, you might even consider doing some video'ing on one of your events. Ray
  5. What kind of wax do you use? Ray
  6. Have any of you ever thought of using a small magnet to hold the blade in it's correct position? I have a telescoping shirt pocket magnet that I can put the blade on and use it to hold the blade while I guide it into place. Works great. Ray
  7. And we all know that is not for staining wood too. Right? Ray
  8. Thanks Don, I have a few things in mind but I don't have the right material at this point. I DO have a ton of scrap wood that I'm going to paste all the practice patterns on and cut the heck out of them. Then they go in the trash. Ray
  9. Well, since I'm not good yet, I'm going to spend some time just practicing. I look forward to "making" something. Ray
  10. Scrappile, as a suggestion, you might try using a larger opening right at the saw blade and under the table. The whistling is caused by that small opening I'll bet. Try going to a larger pipe/tube and see if that changes it. Ray
  11. I thought it was your picture that I had seen. Thanks. I love the set up and I will try to design mine along the same lines. How often do you have to service your Fein? Do you have any type of separator in line? I'm worried about having to buy filters or bags. What say you?
  12. Thanks Scrappile, I appreciate your help. Just out of curiosity, how do you have yours hooked up? Have you posted a picture of your setup? I 've seen a few but don't recall whose or what thread or ????? I have a very small shop and I want to try to use the space as productively as possible. Ray
  13. Thanks. I followed the link and found what you were referring to. I also printed out all the blade info and types. Should come in handy. Ray
  14. Dang! I was hoping. But that's ok. I've never had a VS vac and have managed so far. I'm going to have to build some sort of a cyclone for it now. Maybe a Dust Deputy is in order. I'm going to head to Goodwill and see if I can find any attachments that will fit it too. Thanks for your input. Ray
  15. Thanks Tonylumps, here is a pic of the controls. Can you tell anything from it?
  16. The numbers that I quoted are the model number. I looked it up and it seems that it was made about 8 years ago and was rated as one of the best. This one from the pictures appears to be in new condition. The seller came back with a counter offer and I took it. I'll be picking it up on Sunday. Thanks for your help. Ray
  17. I just offered $150. I'm waiting now for his reply. Thanks for your reply. Is yours the same number? 9.55.13?
  18. Hey all, anybody give me some info regarding the value of a Fein shop vac. It's advertised near me for $180 and the pics of it look like it's in very good condition. Is it worth that much? Should I jump on it? I have been going to buy a shop vac and had planned on spending in the neighborhood of $100 but they are all so noisy I have held off. I hear this particular model is very quiet and has the power tool trigger to turn it off and on. What say all you experts? Ray
  19. Done and done. I have been making sure to do both. The blade is under tension and straight. My neighbor has a new DW788. I'm going to check her machine out and see if I can spot anything. Ray
  20. Thanks Joe, that's what I have done so far. I put it all back to where it was and it is working "OK" but I'm not satisfied with just "ok". What I have managed to do is build in a vibration above number 4-5 on the speed dial. I have opened the saw up before and made sure everything inside is tight so the only thing I could do from here is the bearing replacement. The saw is usable but just not right. I'll mess with it some more but at this point, I'm going to start shopping. I would like to get to scrolling instead of fixing. Maybe I'm chasing a problem is this just inherent in these saws. I do want to thank you for your help though. Much appreciated. Ray
  21. I just tried the table leveling thing. I'm not sure how you would raise rear of the table as it is in a fixed position but I did take it loose from the bracket and started shimming it with washers to get the table 90 degrees to the blade. It take a 1/2" of washers to accomplish that. So, that's not gonna happen. I'm going to keep messing with it until something fixes the problem but so far, all I've done is make it worse. Bummer. Ray
  22. J.T. what does it mean when at the top of the arc and at the bottom of the arc, the blade is against the square but in the middle of the arc it is approx. 1/16" of an inch forward of the square when the square is behind the blade? It truly is swinging in an arc. Ray
  23. I just finished doing the grinding of the holes and I move the whole think forward about a 1/16" but if anything it got worse. I also tried doing the washers under the front of the table too. I tried one washer, then two and then three. No improvement. Can you tell me how much you moved the lower assembly forward? I ground the holes out a good amount and can still go a bit more but it seems that it's getting worse. I'm going to try moving it back a bit but it seems like nothing is really making much difference. The blade is moving about 1/16" in the center of the stroke and then on both ends it moves rearword that same 1/16". I don't know if I will ever get the arc out of it. Ray
  24. How does a person know if a shop vac is rated for constant use? I have been trying to get that question answered but so far have not been able to. Does a person have to spend a ton of cash to get one that is rated for constant use or are there low to mid priced units available? Ray
  25. Certainly makes sense to me. Especially since you already have made the investment. Ray
