    I'd say buy a couple lights from H/F and hang them above you saw with chain. Get them down to about 7 feet from the floor. 2 would be plenty but still get a magnifier.

    I started out with 4 2-bulb 40 watt flourescent overhead lights. Then H/F came out with their 5000 lumen LED lamps for $20 ea. I put four up in place of what I had. My little shop is so well lit now that sometimes I turn 2 if them off. I also have H/F lighted magnifiers mounted on the wall with LED replacement bulbs in them. I have NO problem seeing my work. If I make a mistake it's usually from loss of concentration. I DO like a lot of light.

    Kevin, I have both of the units you show. I take the backer off the 1" belt sander so that there are no "hard" angles to it. I also use a lot of wooden dowls of different diameters with sand paper either loosely rolled up or glued to them. I have a Dremel multi-tool that I originally bought for the cutter blade aspect. I wanted to cut some wall panelling in our bathroom to install a medicine cabinet. I did find later that the sanding part was pretty useful and I found a place on Amazon that sold the precut paper with velcro backing at a bulk price. As mentioned above though, you have to give your hand a break every once in a while to let it recover. Because of where the air vents are on the tool you can't hold it where it would be most comfortable. That's my only complaint.

    I'll bet yours are HTC. They were the best at one time but very pricey. I think Delta sold them under their name.

    Welcome back from The People's Republic of California. I look forward to seeing what you like to make. Pics are a must though or we won't believe you. Do you have anything you specialize in or are you still in the deciding phase. Me, I'm not into wall hangers. I like boxes, bowls and baskets. Things that have a purpose other than collecting dust. But to each his own. Please do keep us updated on your journey.

    Ok, how about building a cradle for the rear leg that spreads the footprint out maybe the same width as the 2 front legs and recess the two wheels?

    How about putting wheels on just two of the legs and mounting them so that they only slightly touch the floor? When moving is necessary you'd just lift one end and roll it around.

    Hi Joe and welcome. I am wondering about your pattern. It might help to see what it is you are going to cut. In most cases you just try to follow a line as closely as possible so I would think that if you can wrap the wood with some packing tape and then glue the pattern to that surface it would hold well enough to do the cutting. Now, if it's a very intricate pattern, it might be a problem but that's how I would attack it.

    I have it on my phone and pc and it tells me when something isn't correct and it's up to me to make the change.

    I can envision what you are saying. The leaded lines, being thicker, once cut out would act as a frame for all the colored pieces that would be fit into it. Neat idea.

    I would be a bit leery of putting them in an insolated box or container because of heat build-up. But, worth a try I guess. I was lucky enough to find one of the "old" style Fein vacs for sale on Craigslist in almost new condition. It had the HEPA filter in it. Very quiet and has the "on demand" outlet so it only runs when the saw is cutting. Then a few seconds afterwards it shuts down.

    Beautiful work. You go the extra mile with finishing. I build something and it immediately goes into service with the idea of "I'll finish it later". And that never happens.
