  5. I have a Hawk and I bought it used so, no light. I bought a high intensity desk lamp at Walmart for 15.00 and wire tied it to an old camera tripod. Works great and can me moved around for other uses. Cheesy I know, but works for me.
  6. I had a similar experience. I used to love photography it was my art, painting with light. Then I started doing wedding photography. It was good money but it ruined it form me. After a few years of that I didn't touch a camera for several years. I play with it now as a minor hobby but it took a while to get back to where I am for sure. The pressure of commercial work took the fun away. Now I carve signs as a business, but I'm learning to scroll for a hobby.
  7. I was able to contact Mr. Dearing by Email. He is a true gentleman. I highly recommend his patterns.

  12. First of all I'd like to thank my friend the Amazing Kevin, for the design and the encouragement. This is done in Basswood. I'm still learning how to cut thicker hardwoods like Walnut.
  13. Is that at scrolling or being a Grandparent?
  14. Excellent piece! I don't thing I'd ever get the blade teeth right. You're a Pro.
  15. I believe this is what's called segmentation.(please correct me if I'm wrong) I think I could do something like that if I went slow. It is a really nice piece and well done. Now I'm off to search patterns LOL
  16. Again thank you all. I did up the tension and tried again, Much better results and a real improvement. The rest must be me and my feed rate. I keep practicing.
  17. They look great! I had the same problem with the "foot" on my Ryobi. I'd push it up. tighten the knob and it would work loose. I just put some electrical tape around it and that took care of that. There wasn't enough clearance to remove it al together.
  18. Welcome! Maybe you can teach me a thing or three.
  19. Good Job! Welcome to the forum.
  20. Ok, as usual I have a question or two. I have been trying to cut wood two inches thick on my saw with poor results. I am getting a cut with a diagonal slant.(its the best way I know how to explain it.) I have tried different blades, speeds, ect. The walnut was a real issue. I next moved to basswood. This worked better but Im still getting that differential from top to bottom. Im sure there are a lot of factors. My blade is square to the table. I have tried slower feed rates and different blade (Flying Dutchman) tensions but....well you know. In your experience what should I try to work on first that will give me better results? And again I thank you in advance...........Craig PS. Im using a Hawk 220
  21. Kevin, you are a machine my friend. I manage one piece about every two weeks, lol.
  22. I don't know, must be in my blood. My Father built things from wood, not furniture or anything. Decks, Docks, Shelves. His Father was a German Cabinet Maker. I carve woodensigns as a business, and scroll for the fun of it, and perhaps future profit potential. My other hobby is photography.
