  1. Late for the party but my go to for that type of wood are these: Super Skip | Pegas scroll saw (artcraftersonline.com)
  2. No. All the major blades (Pegas, Flying Dutchman, Olsen) will work on your wen.

  4. I once cut a 30” door topper project on a 21” saw so cutting big can be done. But as others said, if space and money are no object then go for cool.
  5. How fast you can make a project only really matters in two scenarios. 1. The customer is paying by the hour and you already told them it would take 2 hours. 2. The wife comes into the shop and tells you the Smith’s are coming over tonight and we need to give them a Christmas gift. BEEN THERE!
  6. What you are talking about is called a vein line. It really depends on the design but I often drill my tiny hole on both ends of the line. Make it look more a part of the design. Also, on the design you referenced you could just not cut it. Only you would know. This might help: https://qtena.com/jewelers-saw-blade-chart-br-dimensions-drill-sizes-br-pi-5878.html
  7. There is a reason in the business world that equipment is depreciated and it is not just for taxes. Every piece of equipment has a usable life. This goes from the simplest to multiple million dollars equipment. Sure that life can be extended by regular maintenance but after so many hours and or so many widgets the company is better of replacing rather than repairing. I know it is a bitter pill for someone doing this for a hobby but it is something we all have to face. I think Kevin is probably close with his 250 hour estimate but for a hobbyist like many of us that translates into 3-4 years.
  8. Thanks so much guys I am all set. Merry Christmas!
  9. I know that this is a long shot, but I also know that there are a lot of wise people in the Village. I am trying to find this font or at least something very similar. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is for a Christmas gift.
  10. Can you share your source for 1/16" aircraft ply?
  11. Welcome home John T.
  12. Rick has been a mentor for many in the scroll saw world. Prayers for his family and friends. If you didn’t know about Rick do an internet search. https://www.ilesfuneralhomes.com/obituary/Rick-G.-Hutcheson/Grimes-Iowa/1891238#obit-services
  13. Did you know that is you are using poly or other finishes that at thinned by MS or cleaned up with MS you can apply your finish while the MS is still wet from your pattern removal? I just blot the excess MS off with a paper towel first.
  14. My go to is an old expired credit card. Checked it with several other squares and it is dead on.

  16. I'm about 2 1/2 hours north of you. Welcome any time.
  17. He SCORES!!!!
  18. It is really a tough question because everyone has their own favorites. Another fan of Pegas for most of my work. Like Pete, I get mine from Denny. I have used Flying Dutchman, and they are good blades, but I find the Pegas Modified Geometry are a bit sharper and last a bit longer. I do believe that both Artcarfters and Mikes Work Shop sell a sampler pack. I recommend you try both. Where in NC are you? I am up near the NC/VA border North of Raleigh. I have some of both. Maybe can meet and do a side my side comparison.
  19. Welcome to the Village from another NC member. No firsthand experience with the Wen but I have a Hegner that is available in the price range.
  20. Great job Travis. I know that you are trying to not be political but I think you need to mention something about the supply and cost issues due to the embargo of products from Russia. If nothing else say something like “The cost and supply of Baltic Birch fluctuates due to global and regional factors.”
  21. Look up mold release wax. These are used in many industries and mold release waxes have no or very low silicone content. They are not cheap.
  22. I find the easiest way to find something that drops is to drop something else. Does it always work, no, but if you find the second thing you have the feeling of accomplishment
  23. I use it from portraits, ornaments, gift card holder, layered projects like Alex Fox's, and I also use it for backers.
