Good selection. One tip that works for me. Go to Wal-mart and get a black twin size flat sheet. They only cost a couple bucks. I use spring clips and attach them to the back of the grid wall panels. It makes a great back drop and will make your work really stand out.
Pace your self. One of the biggest mistakes many beginners make is tackling a difficult project before their skills are ready. Take your time getting the feel and enjoy your self.
Unless you are going to mass produce them (1,000's) you are fine. What you can not do is:
- Down load or copy a free pattern and give or sell the pattern to someone else.
- Represent it as your own design.
I cut these on a Dewalt 788 with Flying Dutchman #3 Ultra Reverse blades with no issues. The trick is to let the blades do the cutting and not push. Replace blades like someone else is paying for them and you will be fine.
No matter what one you get remember the blade does the cutting. The blades that come with most miter saws are fair at best. Invest in a quality blade that is designed to used in a miter saw. Miter saw blade teeth have a different angle and shape (pitch and hook) then table saw blades.
Dan go to the WOOD Magazine site and search under miter saws. There is a review from 2007 that selected the Bosch 3912 and the Dewalt 715. I am sure you can find write ups in the other WW magazine sites like Popular WW.
To not hijack the thread started by DW I will ask here....
What software or other tools do you folks use to make intersecting word art patterns? I really do not know.
Had a GREAT show. I have done this show the last 7 years and I do better just about every year. I topped last year's best ever show by $100. One more show coming in 2 weeks. Have to bust my butt to rebuild some inventory but that is a good problem.
Some prefer to drive Fords and some Chevys. They will both get you there. My preferred brand is Fly Dutchman but there are other quality brands. Stay away from "store brands". Get your blades on line and by them by the gross or 1/2 gross. It is much cheaper in the long run.
Scroll saw blades are a disposable commodity like glue and paper towels. The effective life of a blade is measured in minutes. Replace blades like someone else is buying them for you.
You sell more then double your booth fee before you are even 1/2 setup. The show is tomorrow, Saturday. Comments and suggestions always welcome.
oops..forget the pic
I resaw on a 14 Grizzly with riser block. The machine really lacks the power as many 14" saws do to use a 3/4 resaw blade effectively. I use 1/2" Woodslicer brands from Highland Hardware.
