  1. Just like LarryEA I started around 2000 with a Dremel. Worked fine when I gave it to my brother. I then upgraded to a Dewalt in 2002. Never looked back.
  2. Sorry rjR but I do not think they sell a kit. You kinda have to dissemble and see which are bad. In may cases a good coat of grease will cure many of the issues.
  3. Len I could have talked for another 90 minutes. The best part is no one fell asleep.
  4. Just to clear it up, while I received compensation for speaking the EX was ordered ahead of time and purchased with funds from my November craft shows. The timing of the pickup and the speaking engagements was perfect.
  5. As some of you might recall I had a speaking engagement last week. BTW it went very well. So well in fact that they asked me if I would be willing to come back at a later date (TBD) and do more. Anyway, this is what followed me home. Klingspor is now an authorized Excalibur dealer and I got the first one they sold.
  6. Love my wireless printer as I can print from my laptop, my wife can use it with her computer and we both use it from our Kindled. Laser is the way to go. Yes the refills are more then inkjet but when you figure how many pages you get per refill laser is much cheaper. I have a Brothers MFC-L2720DW multi function.
  7. I use a plain simple all wood bar stool I bought at Wal-Mart. It was cheap. I am 5'7" and it works for me. I work on a Dewalt saw on the Dewalt stand.
  8. This reply does not directly address your question but I hope it helps. In this day and age sell patterns that are only downloadable. I refuse to buy patterns that I have to wait a week of more to get and have to pay shipping and handling on top of the cost of patterns. I know I am not alone.
  9. Welcome to the Village from another North Carolina scroller. I live 75 miles North of Raleigh on Lake Gaston. Are you a member of NCWW (North Carolina Wood Workers)? If not check them out. www.ncwoodworker.net Also The Klingspor Extravaganza held every October in Hickory, NC is a must attend event. Keep an eye on the Klingspor web site for details normally posted in mid summer.
  10. The light that Charles talks about is amazing. I have one of his custom designed bracket. Hi Charley..... Scott here. Welcome to the Village.

  12. I mainly use a Dewalt on a Dewalt stand. I sit on a tall stool and use a foot pedal. I can cut standing up if need be.
  13. A local WW club invited me to their next meeting to talk scroll saws and scrolling. I have done my share of demos and one on one instructions but never a stand up for an hour plus. Any advise for those who have done this before?
  14. I have a Type 2 that I got in 2002. It has thousands of hours on it. I have replaced a couple bearings and a couple of blade screws in those 14 years. My advice is to disassemble it once a year and apply a quality synthetic grease.
  15. Last year I took a break. Way to long. As the result I end up with a ton of stress and heartburn during October and November. Almost as bad as working my old job. I do not plan to make the same mistake again. I have already started on 2016 but at a nice relaxed pace.
  16. Would be nice if the intersecting word art was vertical. For those who know can that be done?
  17. Very cute.....would love to see that made into a pattern.
  18. I get the odorless or low odor mineral spirits all the time and that works great. Thanks for the warning on this junk.
  19. Ereplacementparts.com as already mentioned. IMHO their prices are good but their shipping costs are a bit high. So order some blade holder parts as well.
  20. Likely a metric Allen wrench
  21. One fact to consider. If your saw is stationary I doubt how you leave it is really critical. Now if your saw is moved even on a rolling base a blade should be left in to prevent moving of the arms.
  22. Oh yes the wife factor. They are all alike. I really don't mind much as mine helps with setups and take downs. I look it this way. She is going to spend it where you made it or not. At least you made some profit.
  23. I try to stop my day when I have a dull blade. I leave in the saw with the tension off but the blade still connected top and bottom. I then start back up with a new blade. One I am sure of what size and type it is.
  24. I have used a number of brands and styles of blades and never got a hour of use out of any. I cut hardwood, softwood and plywood. Best I get is 20 - 30 minutes.
  25. The skip tooth is made to cut aggressively. Try them on a compound cutting project.
