  1. That is really good that you can have time with the little one in the shop with the little one drawing out what he likes and you get to cut it out for him! That is the one thing that I am missing with our great grand son who is with his parents over in Japan for at least 4 more years! He will be 6 years old in Oct and we last seen him when he turned 3 years old here in the US! Enjoy both of your young ones while you can, they grow up so fast! Erv Redwine
  2. I am in full agreement with all of the comments having been posted! Use BB at least 1/4 inch, as for blades, SPRIAL blades would be the only blade to use simply because of this pattern! Use the smallest and if you haven't used sprials before, start with lower speeds and get used to not moving the wood where you don't want it to go as the sprial blade will cut where its at!! Do some practice cuts on the bb wood you will use and with a pencil or pen draw out some straight lines and a lot of curve lines or better yet copy off a small section of the pattern and place that on some bb and practice cutting with the spirals! Erv
  3. The first thing I do every morning is to go to Steve's web site and see what he has designed for the day and most likely get my copy of the new one! Steve will be missed not only by myself but the entire scrolling community! Rest in peace ! Erv Redwine
  4. Oh yeah, both collage and pro's ! Great job on your design and cutting! Erv
  5. Very nicely done, both the pattern and the finished product ! Erv
  6. Great job on the mantle clock! I am in the same boat as you when it comes to taking photos of my work, sure glad the projects are so much better than my photos! Erv
  7. That is a memory that both you and your grandson will treasure for a life time! Great job on the cutting of the portrait and to have it signed was a bonus for sure! Erv
  8. Good job with Steve's gnome! He does turn out some great patterns for sure! Erv
  9. You couldn't have picked a better piece of wood than this one for that scene! Very well done! Erv
  10. Steve Goode, if you happen to see all of these get well soon, rest assured you are in all of our prayers and do what the doctor tells you to do! I have cut many, many of your patterns over the years, not sure when I first found your site, but always check each day to see what your design for the day is! Do take care! Erv Redwine
  11. May 2026 be a very great year for everyone and take care! Erv
  12. Merry Christmas to all!
  13. This is the only source that I order hardwoods from! I used to use another source but the price kept going up and so was the shipping while the quality of the wood was not always what I would expect! You wont go wrong with Ocooch wood and shipment times! Ervin
  14. I am a little late with this, laptop giving me trouble, but most all of the long time scrollers know about this, if you attach Padauk to a lighter colored wood preseal both pieces first! The reason being that Padauk will bleed into the lighter wood! This happened to me a couple of times until I ask about this and was told how to finish before putting the two woods together! Erv
  15. Outstanding work on all 3 projects!!! Erv
  16. The one wood that I react to is Mahogany! I found that out when I was not using a face mask and was sneezing, nose running like a facet! Had not had any problem with woods before that so I started using a face mask like I should have been doing before! Erv
  17. That is not a Steve Good pattern as it not in the Holiday or in the Novelties sections! I have seen this cut before but nothing said about who the designer was or where the pattern was located! Erv
  18. I don't thank that trying to get a hold of Steve is going to work! Something has happen to him as he has not posted a new pattern for over two weeks and no one seems to know what has happened to him! Some one on his blog stated that he was having kidney stone problems and that is all I have been able to find out! You might try googling "Scroll Saw Artist" and check to see if Sue Mey might have what you are looking for! Erv
  19. Where there is a will there is a way! That would not work here in NM, a sudden gust of wind and he would be flying! Got to give him credit for having a way to get the ply home and not paying for delivery charges! Erv
  20. Could be a good market for your castings! Very colorful that's for sure! Erv
  21. I don't know about everyone else and the thickness of lines on patterns but for myself the thinner the line the easier it is for myself to stay on line to make the cut! Now that may not sound right but with a thick line it is near imposable to stay in the middle to make the cut! With a thick line you have a choose as to cut on the left or cut on the right side of the line and that sometimes will make a difference in the outcome of what the pattern was meant to be! Now I understand that a lot of us older scrollers may not have the Eyesite we had in the younger days but for my self I will stay with the thinner lines! Erv
  22. Ditto on all of the comments after having cataracts removed and now being farsighted instead of nearsighted! I had mine done about 3years ago and just need readers for anything closer than 12 to 18 inch's! I was nearsighted all of my life and it was a pain to go in every year and get a new prescription and was told that I would soon have to have the procedure done and the day finally arrived to have one eye done than about 2 weeks later the other eye was done! Now it is just once a year for a check up and no problems! I highly recommend the procedure! Erv
  23. That truly belongs in everyone's workshop and especially in mine! I, at times, believe that my ruler and or tape measure moves what I measure and mark by shorting the measure a 1/4 inch or more! I really thank there are gremlins in my shop at times doing and moving items I just put down and its not there when I need it, than just a few minutes later I find it in a different place! I really like that sign and I may have to gather some already cut letters and make up one! Erv
  24. This is similar to the Wen saws, the table, the blade holders appear to be the same. The tenson knob at the rear is different but the looks are much the same. Seems to be priced along with the Wen's! Erv
  25. Beautiful job on the cutting and especially the railing! Have never seen one in person, as we are lucky to have rivers that still flow here in NM! Erv
