    Was a rainy weekend and nowhere to go with this shutdown, so spent an afternoon on the saw.

    Nice cuttings Paul. Finally started practice with the straight blades, having a heck of a time just to any years using only spirals. Keep wanting to not turn the wood and just cut sideways. Hard on blades lol

    Had scroll saw fever the last week. And produced a few easy patterns and a couple not so easy. Got one more on the saw and then will start some outdoor work. Come on spring.

    Finally completed Hunter. This was the second time around. Had him about 3/4 done ,was sanding fuzzies and broke a chunk out. I did my Jag, but this one was even more fragile. Think I'll do an easy one next.

    I use the bottom of a shop vac that the motor died on. Already has the casters on it and with the 20 foot hose I have I can roll it anywhere in the shop. I am using the DD. So if your vac ever dies it has another use.

    Thanks for the reply guys. My eyes are also failing at 72. I cut with a lighted magnifier, which helps, but when you leave the line it looks like a mile. Ma says I'm to much a perfectionist, the smallest flaw drives me insane. Everyone raves about my project and all I see is that stupid flaw lol. I'm cutting Charles Hand's Hunter for the second time, first time around was sanding the fuzzies off the back and caught it wrong with the sanding block and knocked a chunk out. After a few choice words to myself I've started over and have taped the weak spot so it not happening again. Will post it when done. Mike

    Today I was at a fellow scroller who was scrolling a portrait, as he cut I noticed that he didn't follow the pattern lines as closely as I do. So I asked him after he went quite a ways outside the lines, Why he didn't stay on the line. His answer was when it was framed no one would notice. Guess I'm not built that way. A pattern is supposed to be a duplicate of your project. My question is am I wasting to much time following the pattern to a T, or your am I correct the way I do it? Would like to know your thoughts on this subject. Thanks Mike

    Nice job Paul. It was the eyes that inspired me to do this one. I've also picked up his other cat patterns. Just need the time.

    Always a draw back or trade off somewhere Paul. Guess the ear muffs are the least of the evils. Beats the dust mask.

    Hi Folks; I found this collection system on you tube and built one for myself. After using it for the past 3 weeks, I have been impressed enough with it to want to share it with you. It is simple to build and reasonably priced for the parts you need. I have it on my Dewalt saw and plan to build another for my Excaliber saw. The video shows a small amount of dust after sawing, I have not had any. I'm sure that its close to 100 percent in collection. The only drawback is the vac noise. Like him I plan to move the vac further away from the saw and also use a remote switch for on and off to eliminate the shut off problem. Hope this helps some of you out, I know it did wonders for my shop in breathing and cleanliness.

    Great job I really like the coasters too. I got on that kick a few years ago and made cutting boards and lazy Susan's. once you make the jigs it all fun after that.

    I just finished this Alex Fox pattern, really like the vintage pickup. I've always liked the wildlife patterns and my wife like these scenery ones, think I'm starting to swing her direction. I have a covered bridge for the next project. Winter doesn't want to leave Wisconsin so I'll stick to the shop for a while longer. Mike

    Been a while since I've posted anything. Kind of burned myself out scrolling and took a break for a while. Anyway back in the shop and just finished this Charles Hand pattern. Was good getting back to the saw. Mike

    Ron; Haven't been on much lately and was sorry to hear about your health problems. Hope all goes well and you heal quickly, with the meds they have now days and following your doc's orders things will improve. Good luck and take care. Mike

    Nice work Paul, I also have been in a slump, with a hospital stay this winter, and busy with wife's cataract surgeries. Was in the shop the last couple day. so hope to post something soon. I really like the howling wolf. will have to look for the pattern.

    a picture frame jig comes in handy to frame your work.

    Hey Jim; Happy to hear that things are looking up .for your wife and yourself. Hang in there with the BIG C scare gone, it will improve. Just went through this with my lady and the tunnel gets brighter every day. Mike
