  1. Some of you may know that I am a scroll saw instructor at the Woodcraft store in Ventura, Ca. This weekend is the stores annual woodworking show. All the major tool manufactures reps will be there, and lots of demos. I will be doing a scroll saw demo. I'll be cutting 3D compound cut Reindeers and Dolphins. I usually hand them to the closest person watching. I'll also be cutting some ornaments, not to be handed out though, as these will be for sale at my shows coming up. If you are in Southern California, come in and say hi. I will be there on Saturday, Oct 1st. from 9:00 am till about 2:00.

Might of been a boring cut for you Vern, but well worth the effort! It's a beautiful cut!

    Creepy!
  10. I like those Jerry! Very nice work!
  11. I'm like you Paul. If I don't like a piece I won't sell it. But I must admit, it looks good to me! I have two big shows coming up, and I just don't have time to cut any, but it is on my to do list!
  12. Hey Les, that's a great idea, but It seems there needs to be some room behind the fan for the air to go. As I see it, the air will hit wall and come back at you. Also, the fan should stay on all the time as there is always dust in the air, not just when the saw is on. BTW, nice avatar!
  13. There has been a lot of discussion on this forum in the past. Do a search. You will find a lot of information.
  14. Do not use lemon or orange oil or mineral oil. Those products are not designed as a finish and never really dry. Lemon oil and orange oil are cleaners and polishes. You can use mineral oil for cutting boards and such, but these products will leave residue on furniture and walls.
  15. It's obvious you're retired Dave! Beautiful work! If you don't mind telling, what did you get for those?
  16. Hey Steve, I haven't done any bowls, but if I were selling these, I would have a price of at least $35.
  17. You don't need both. Use one or the other. But it really looks like your drill bit is dull and maybe not fast enough.
  18. Looking good Dick!
  19. I like those Dan! Although I'm not a fan of painting, I like the painted ones!
  20. Awesome cutting Paul and a great pattern Dan!
  21. Nice work Todd!
  22. I like that Earl, very nice cutting and a great pattern!
  23. Don't know what you are showing is, but I use a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil (BLO) and mineral spirits. The oil brings out the grain and color of the wood. The mineral spirits thins the oil to allow the oil to spread around the project easier and allow the mixture to dry a lot faster, usually in 24-36 hours.
  24. Hey Dave, I haven't said it in a while, but man, you are doing excellent work! I give you a first place prize for best improved!
