It looks real delicate. I think it might need a backer board. If I was cutting this, I would of cut the backer at the same time so it will fit exactly to the piece. If it's not as delicate as it looks, you will get by without a backer.

I do it this way too, except I wipe off the excess oil.I always stress not to use products that are not designed as a finish. Mineral oil is ok for things like cutting boards and such, but like lemon oil, it never really drys, possibly staining what ever the object it is sitting on. The BLO/ mineral spirits mix will bring out the grain and color of the wood, but will dry in 24-36 hours. I usually apply a top coat of a spray semi gloss lacquer once the oil is dry.

Monti, don't use lemon oil, it never fully drys. Use a product that is designed as a wood finish like Danish oil or a BLO/mineral spirits mix. Lemon oil is a cleaner and polish. I know, Steve Good uses it, but it's not the right product to use!

Like has been said above, what you find at the big box stores is not Baltic birch plywood. Real BB ply comes in 5'x5' sheets. If you find something that is 4'x8', it is not BB plywood.

General the distributor of the EX saws has two divisions. General makes and sells equipment in Canada. General international buys equipment from the Far East, then sells them in North Americia. The maker of the saw, somewhere in Tiwan, sell these saws to other distributors across the Globe who then package them with their brand. This is common practice in the tool industry. That's why this blue tool looks just like that yellow tool with a different name.

Hey Paul, evidently top feeding doesn't work well when using spiral blades and feed holes just big enough to get the blade in like you do. Top feeding excels when cutting fret work though.
