  1. Looks great! I personally like the Black backer, but I do almost all of mine with a black backer so I may be biased...lol.
  2. Wow! Amazing work.
  3. I just got back to scrolling after a couple years off and too was shocked by the price of blades. I like the Pegas straight blades but don't care for their spirals at all and have always liked the FD New Spiral. I found on Charles Dearing's website that he has a deal with wooden teddy bear to get %15 off FD blades and I used that. BB Plywood is a whole other stress. I'm still in shock over the prices now. No more stack cutting for me.
  4. Just the easiest way I've found. I don't have a stand for my planer, nor room in my shop for one. The first time I used it I sat it on saw horses in the yard and it made a massive mess so I just decided to sit it on my tailgate and blow into the bed of the truck where its easy to clean up. Not a perfect solution, but it works.
  5. I sit mine on the tailgate of my pickup and let it blow into the bed and then send the Grand daughter up there with a broom and sweep it up...lol. One of these day's I'll get around to some kinda dust collection in the shop.
  6. Great work! Dream Theater are one of my favorite bands as well. Hope your feeling better soon, until then take it easy and enjoy some great music!
  7. This is such sad news. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
  8. I bought 25 2X4 studs today at Home Depot for about $3.50 ea. About two months ago I priced them at almost $8ea. Plywood is still a bit high, but coming down as well. This is in Central Florida.
  9. These are great! My Granddaughter loves tic tac toe, I'm so happy to have seen this now I know what to make for her. Thanks, and great job!
  10. I love this, I might have to add it to my list of things to do. Great job on it!
  11. I'd probably use 1/4" ply myself and stack 2, just because I think the 1/4 would make it pop a bit more than 1/8th. That's just personal preference though and it will look great either way. As far as blades go I'd probably use a FDUR #5 whether cutting 1/4 or 1/8th inch stacked.
  12. Another bottom feeder checking in. Every once in awhile I get it in my head to give top feeding another shot and every time I do I quickly realize its not for me.
  13. I used to use the blue painter's tape until one day I ran out and decided just to spray glue the pattern directly to the wood. At this time I realized it was much easier to remove with a bit of mineral spirits and I no longer had a problem with the pattern lifting while I was trying to cut. Recently I saw everyone talking about the contact paper and decided to try it, and I thought it worked a bit better than the blue tape, but in the end I just like the simplicity of gluing directly to the wood.
  14. Great work as always! Good to see you back posting your work!
  15. That is awesome! Thank him for his service!
  16. Very nice work. I think the Camaro looks fine, but I have definitely run into the same issue where something looks great on paper and then I cut it and realize that for whatever reason it didn't translate well.
  17. Very nicely done!
  18. Awesome idea and great work! Personally I think the Tennessee one looks great, I like the darker wood.
  19. Excellent work and thank you for your service!
  20. This looks amazing, you did a great job cutting this! That grill would have stressed me out!
  21. So very true. My Wife says I'm the most impatient person she knows, yet I can sit at my saw and scroll for hours on end. I don't think patience is so necessary when your doing something you love. I had a friend who wanted to get into scrolling so I invited him over and gave him a quick basic lesson and sat him at my saw, after about five cuts he told me he was bored and that he realized he don't have the patience for scrolling, yet this same guy will sit on a boat for hours waiting for a fish to bite. I think one's patience is relevant to their enjoyment of an activity. Sorry that was a bit long winded way to say "I love to scroll." LOL
  22. I had thought about the Pegas myself, however I'm not at all a patient person and the thought of waiting a month or more to receive my saw just wasn't going to work for me...lol. Not to mention I really didn't like the idea of spending that much money on something that I'd never been able to inspect in person. I figure down the road I can always put the Pegas clamps on my saw, however right now I'm perfectly happy with the clamps on the saw so it's not something I'm worried about anytime soon, though I might buy a set for my Delta as the knob on that saw is pretty worn and in need of replacing.
  23. This is a link to the light. It does a very good job of lighting my cutting surface. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FIYJXAQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The blade size is written on the side of the tube with red paint marker, but in the picture it dosen't show up for some reason. A label maker is a good idea though, I might have to pick one up soon. I also have the blades in the slots in order of on the left of the machine is spirals from smallest to largest and right of the machine is straight blades smallest to largest and all of my blades are Flying Dutchman so no need to separate by brand.
  24. No the light is one I bought from Amazon for about $20. It works pretty good, but you have to readjust it a lot due to it being flexible.
  25. So I broke down and bought this brand new King 21" scroll saw today. For the past few years I've had a Delta 40-694 of which I've felt was a very good saw. The Delta still runs just fine, however it has a lot of hours on it and lately I couldn't help but worry that it might break and I'd be without a saw. So I started researching new saws and saving up some money. I decided on the King for a couple simple reasons. Probably the biggest of which is the WoodCraft store in Orlando had one in store that I was able to go in and look at and get a feel for. It's a pricey investment, however I'm hoping it's one that lasts me a very long time, many cutting hours and many wonderful projects. I've spent about 3 hours cutting on it so far and I have to say I'm very impressed. There is almost no vibration and it runs so quietly even compared to my Delta which I've never thought to be a noisy saw. The top blade clamp, while not all that different from the Delta, has taken me a bit of getting used to, but I think I'm getting there. So far I'm very happy with this purchase.
