  1. I use a lot of Red Oak, mostly because its easy to get and I like the way it finishes. For portraits and the like its Baltic Birch. I keep telling myself that I need to try some different woods, but since none are available local I have to have it shipped to me and that can get a bit expensive.
  2. Looks great Dan!
  3. Very nice! Well cut on some beautiful wood!
  4. Very nice cutting! The meaning is a bit lost on me as well though...lol.
  5. Nice! My xbox is my second favorite hobby! lol Your grandchildren will love them.
  6. Very nicely done!
  7. Looks great! A great start, to a very rewarding hobby, keep at it!!
  8. I love it! Very nicely done with some nice creative touches.
  9. Very nice work! I know a few hunters that would drool over this.
  10. I think they came out beautifully! Thanks for sharing.
  11. This is great news Kevin! Glad to hear it!
  12. Adorable! You did a wonderful job capturing their likeness!
  13. I'm really liking that Ridgid, thought like Scrappile says there is no disk. Do you guys that have it miss the disk sander or do you have a separate disk sander? I better get to buttering up the Wife if I'm going to bring one of these home.....lol. Thanks for all the advice so far guys. Josh
  14. I was originally going to get the Harbor Freight one since I could get it for about $60, but the reviews sort of scared me off. Lowe's sells the Skill for $120, but again the reviews are a bit mixed. I could probably spend $200 if I'm really nice to the wife on Valentines day this weekend...lol
  15. Hello everyone, I'm considering purchasing a new stationary belt/disk sander and I'm just curious if anyone has any suggestions/recommendations. I have about $150 that I can spend. Thanks, Josh
  16. Vey nicely done!!
  17. Looks great Dick!!
  18. There was a post on here a few months back singing the praises of Top Feeding and so I gave it a try and found that I hated it. It was just uncomfortable for me trying to fumble around under my saw to get the blade in place and on top of that I bent a lot of blades trying to get them through the holes. I really think its just a preference thing though, do what is comfortable for you.
  19. Thanks Paul! This is good to know, they have some really interesting projects that I'd love to try my hand at. Might have to break down and order something soon. In the mean time I'll be looking forward to seeing how your clock turns out!! Josh
  20. You've done an amazing job with this! I really like that Walnut and think all you need is some poly on it as others have said. I kind of think that the backer would look good slightly darker, maybe try boiled lindseed oil on that. Again, excellent cutting!!
  21. Looking good so far, I can't wait to see more of it. I've thought about ordering some patterns from them for awhile. How was their service?
  22. Oldhudson, I simply dipped it in lemon oil. I was going to put a few coats of poly on it, but decided against it since I don't have much luck with it on fretwork.
  23. Congratulations Edward!!!!
  24. It came out great, definitely something to be proud of! Josh
  25. I love the border, I think it adds a nice touch. That being said I'd still put it in a frame as well, but it does look fine without it. Josh
