  1. I'd call that "Special".
  2. Yikes! Maybe make the pipes longer and put a pipe cap on them. I bought some saw blade tubes from Wooden Teddy bear. They are sold in sets of 12 and come with caps.. I think around $4.00 for the dozen.
  3. Hi Kevin - what you are making is an ANKH. This dates back to antiquity in Egypt. . Some extreme interpretations of the Commandment to make no graven image interpret it such that even a photograph is a graven image (the Amish are one such group). Others say that coins with a head on them (such as the Lincoln penny) violate the Commandment. I feel that these interpretations are extreme. Having said all that, the Ankh is not an image of either a human, an animal or a plant, nor is it a representation of a (false) god. In my opinion it is NOT a graven image by any normal interpretation. The Reverend Ernie Richardson
  4. Beautiful Work, as always, Kevin.
  5. Beautiful Work. I agree the Black Background is the right way to go.
  6. I like all three frames. Great creativity on each. I especially like the horse one with the horse "stickng out of the frame". Wonderful work.
  7. Edward, Did you get a good report from the SawBones?
  8. Glad that no one was hurt As my wife's Aunt Helen always said: "Things can be replaced. People can't".
  9. Good luck at the Doctor's.
  10. As a newbie to scroll sawing, I am totally ignorant of many things INCLUDING what SSWC is. Can somene enlighten me?
  11. That is a beautiful sign,
  12. Welcome Back Home. Hopes for a rapid recovery.
  13. At $3.00 a gallon versus a "normal" price of $26.99 a gallon I'd take a "flier" on a gallon (or two) if I were you. Only question I have is is the " bargain" stuff "Boiled Linseed Oil" or "Linseed Oil" gotta make sure it's being advertised correctly.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Not that I would've bitten. My Scots Forebears wouldn't let me
  15. Just makes you more "Amazing".
  16. I won't bother with them in that case. That will let me buy a couple of patterns or some blades.
  17. Mike's was bought by Wooden Teddy Bear. I have bought some FD blades from the Mike's Workshop site since WTB bought it. Got them promptly and the ones I bought seem to be sharp. I plan to buy some more soon from Mike's Workshop site
  18. Thanks to all! It;s very much appreciated!
  19. Thanks, Everyone! That settles it as far as I'm concerned. That $6.95 (at Wooden Teddy Bear) will be repurposed to buy a pattern for a Masonic Wall Clock. (or a couple of dozen FD Blades). I appreciate everyone's pitching in to help the new guy.
  20. Woodcraft and several scroll saw pattern vendors sell a blade lubricant. Is that something worthwhile to have and use or is it like the fabled "Stretching Oil" that we used to send newbie tool and die maker apprentices to the tool crib to find. (of course there is NO SUCH THING as "stretching oil") The Blade Lubricant does exist but is it worth having? I'm as green as that newbie tool and die maker apprentice so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  21. Gorgeous Piece. I too really like your label. Simple but elegant in it's simplicity.
  22. Another possibility to hold the bits truer than the small chuck from Mike's Woodworking would be a small Pin Vise. Starrett makes some that are very true and they can then be chucked in a drill press drill chuck. Number size drills can be bought from some hardware stores and Home Depot sells a set of number drills for around ten bucks (21 drills I think). I don't own them so I can't vouch for their quality but I can vouch for the Starrett Pin vises. I have a set of them. Love them.
  23. I too have a machine shop aprom. I use a dust mask when it is warranted. Safety glasses as well. I've beem thinking about making that little apon holder from Steve's pattern. I will say that I just ordered a Smock from IAP.
  24. Very Nice indeed.
