  1. I like that cross. You did a great job on that one.
  2. Looks good Dick. Simple but good.
  3. Len, I started with a razor blade and was able to open up the top corner And then I used a flat putty knife and once I got that in I was able to work it down and it just kept popping apart. I thought I would break some of it but I got lucky. Came right off and then I rescanned the back.
  4. Wow Kevin, you really been busy. Wonder why your tired. Hope your getting paid for some of that work. Everything looks great.
  5. Thanks guys, Jerry, I never thought of spreading the glue out that way. I always put a few drops around and spread it with my finger. I'll have to give that a try.
  6. Well I took a lot of your advice and changed the backer to red. The old backer came off pretty easy without and damage so I painted the black one red and put it back on. I think it looks a little better. Thanks for all your comments and advice.
  7. I knew I should of put a red backer on it. Don't Know what I was thinking. The black backer is already glued on. Not sure if I could get it off without messing it up.
  8. That's really different Rob. Came out great. She should like that.
  9. Thanks everyone for the compliments. Paul I was thinking about putting a few coats of poly on it. Still might do that. Kepy, I was thinking of a red backer to, seeing that it was for firefighting. I should of put it on here first with both backers and see what everyone thought.
  10. Hi everyone, I just finished this cross yesterday. It's 17 x 11 made out of 1/2 inch Oak with 1/8 BB backer painted black. I put a coat of BLO on it then a coat of Danish Oil. I mused a #3 reverse blade on this also. This is a Sue Mey pattern. Not sure if I should put a couple of coats of Gloss Poly on it to or just leave it the way it is. I'm keeping this piece for me to because I'm a retired firefighter. Hope you like it.
  11. All I can say is WoW!
  12. Nice job on that one Kris.
  13. Larry, they came out great. You actually brush on your finish. I dip mine right in the can and let them drip dry and then do it again. Saves a lot of time.
  14. They came out great. Nicke colors to.
  15. That's some nice cutting. I just don't know how you do that with a spiral blade. I'm afraid to try one.
  16. They came out good. I like the way you did the frame to.
  17. Don, you would cut out the black on that pattern and then put a black maybe 1/8 BB backer on it. If your going to frame it them I use black felt on the back or any color you like. Hope that helps.
  18. I use blue painters tape all the time. Put it on the wood and spray with adhesive and put the pattern on that. When I'm done cutting, peel off the tape and throw it away. No fuss, no mess. Can't get any easier than that. As far as lubing the blade, I think the packing tape does that, not the painters tape.
  19. That came out great. Nice cutting.
  20. That came out good. I know that was a lot of cutting. I just finished one myself but mine is a little different.
  21. Thanks everyone for the tips and compliments. I have one more cross to do. This one is a firefighter one with all the fire items since I was a firefighter. I figured I might as well make something for me.
  22. Kevin, I was thinking about stack cutting them but 1/2 in Oak would of been an inch and I thought it might be to thick to cut. I didn't want to take any chances with this one.
  23. WoW Ron, that is very impressive. Love the corners and the inlay. You can see a lot of work and time went into that piece. One of these days I will try inlay.
  24. WoW Jim, that came out great. I wish I knew how to do inlay. I would love to try it.
  25. Looks good Kevin. The way your holding them make them look bigger than your buildings. When I first looks at it I said to myself, boy that's a big sign. LOL.
