  1. I use ebay for numbered drill bits and found good deals and free shipping.
  2. I cut 1.5" on my Hegner. Typically, do compound cut Christmas Ornaments. I have cut them from oak, ash and cherry. I have used FD Polar #5. I really like the PS Woods Super Sharp blades but are more expensive.
  3. Will a bandsaw cut cut straight and smooth? Yes,it will cut straight. Smooth...not completely. That is why I use a the sand paper glued to MDF. The other way to sand is with a flat sander, sand flee, v-sander (all the same thing). I did the box in the picture with a bandsaw and homemade flat sander.
  4. I used to make boxes and cut the lids of on my table saw. I now do it on a band saw with much better results. I made a MDF board with a cut up sander belt glued to it to sand the cuts. I find this a very quick and accurate method.
  5. I use a drum sander, carving with a Dremel, a lot of cloth backed sand paper and other things as needed. While an interesting abrasive, as one who does Intarsia I do not have any interest.
  6. Interesting product, but not sure if I would use it on my Intarsia.
  7. I scrape the nozzle off once in awhile to get a good spray pattern back. I also bought a bunch of nozzles from ebay to replace the nozzles if needed.
  8. That is really bad for Vistaprint. When a customer has a problem with an order and they need to send a replacement, they should check it out before shipping the replacement.
  9. I understand what you were trying to do. But, I think if you are not satisfied with something you bought you should contact that business first. It does not matter why you decided to post it, it still provides a negative for the company. If someone is unhappy with one of your puzzles or maps and their is a minor problem,do you want them to contact you directly or first post it on a forum. I simply believe in giving someone the chance to make it right first.
  10. I am glad they are making it right. That was a great response from them. I would have contacted them first and given them a chance to make it right before posting it on a public forum.
  11. Cherry Tree has the plans for it.

    Hegner Multimax 22-V

I have the 18" version and bought it used for less than $500. I do not do fret work or use the kind of blades that Hotshot does. That is why my opinion is different than his. Most of my work is Intarsia cutting many different types of wood. The saw cuts thicker woods with no problem and little vibration. I have no problems with the blade clamps. There are very few saws built as solidly. I do not think you will find many DeWalt saws 20 years old and still running like new. Mine is about that old and runs perfectly.
  13. I like the Mac Mop from Klingspor for delicate items. Using it in a variable speed drill press or hand drill at low speed works well for me.
  14. I use Watco Danish Oil for any irregular shaped things.
  15. On things I make, I embed a penny of the year it was made and initial with fine tip marker and spray with light coat of lacquer.
  16. Unless I have only used the blade a very short time, I toss them out.
  17. I think that for some people and cases this is worth trying to fix. However, for most of us, is it worth the effort? As one new to scroll sawing, I think trying different blades and working on technique is more worthwhile. In the case your saw is way out, then of course fix it.
  18. This is amazingly sad. How can people get so upset when discussing how, when, where to lube a scroll saw. This is certainly not what I expect on this forum. Maybe on some others I visit but not here. How about a time out?
  19. This is the topic I started which mentioned the Super Sharp blades. I have no idea why you could not find it with a search.
  20. I posted a topic about comparing #7 blades and included the PS Woods Super Sharps. To me, the Super Sharps cut better than all other similar blades in the tests I ran. However, they are the most expensive. You could look up my post for the data by doing a search.
  21. I found the following which may be of interest
  22. One comment.... when you buy a pattern it is many times for private use only. You can not give out copies to others or sell a product made from the pattern. Just because you bought the pattern their maybe restrictions on the use.
  23. I think that if it is copyrighted then the answer is no. If it is someone's pattern, I think the right thing is to ask first. If you are making one for personal use, I would still ask. If you are making it to sell, then absolutely need to ask. Of course, one could just put a copyright symbol on everything you post.
  24. I will not use MDF on my scroll saw due to the dust issues. It gets into everything and on everything including your clothes. Even with a dust mask you still have on your clothes and unless you take them off you spread it everywhere. If you want to use it, good for you. But not me.....
  25. I do not typically do fret work but do cut 1/8" BB for some projects and use a FD UR #3. For Intarsia I use a FD Polar. Recently, I tried PS Super Sharps for compound cuts and liked them but expensive. I have tried just reverse type blades but find no advantage over the ultra reverse. I also think that why you are cutting may make a difference in terms of how fast you want to cut and the costs. For instance, you need to cut 100 puzzles. Neither of these impact my blade choice.
