Actually, Kevin, you are not correct. I used larger, PVC and then split off to two 3/4" pipes. The cross sectional are of the two 3/4" pipes is larger than the area of the opening on the vac hose. Also, the Festool and Fein type vacuums are designed to run continuously. Capturing dust at the source is always better than blowing it around to catch with a filter.

In a recent magazine, Judy Peterson had some great Giraffe Puzzles and I wanted to do something with all three of the puzzles in it. I decided to make a scene with the three Giraffes looking like a family on the plains. I created this 10 x 12 scene. The Giraffes were cut from quarter sawn Sycamore. The tree is walnut and poplar. The background is poplar on the bottom, ash above it and blue pine for the sky. The three pieces of the background were all shimmed so that the bottom is higher than the middle and the top farther back in order to try to create some depth to it. The outside frame is red oak. The finish is white shellac as I did not want to alter the colors of the wood.

I am glad to see people trying to control dust. I have concerns with blowing dust with fans as some of the fine dust hangs in the air. As to using some type of hose coming off of a fan....not likely to be effective as the static pressure of the fans is very low. I believe that dust collection is best done at the source. Rofl and I have presented solutions to suck dust from above and below the table on our scroll saws. However, we are using expensive vacuums. One could use a Ridgid shop vac with HEPA filter and the cost is much less.

For better flow, you might try sticking the hose inside the PVC by increasing the size of the PVC where it splits. With the piping you have you are choking down the flow. I designed this several years ago.

I am going to ask again....what type blade are you using. You said earlier that you use Flying Dutchman but not which one. When I use the Polar, I sometimes get small splinters on the back. If I switch to the Ultra Reverse, I get no splinters.

Are you using the FD Polar, Reverse or Ultra Reverse? The Polar blades gives more back side issues than the Ultra Reverse.

I agree about not using pallet wood for children's puzzles or anything for children. You just do not know what was on the pallet or how it was treated or with what. People are so careful with wood types and finishes for children's toys and pallet wood is not worth the risk. I would not buy anything pallet wood for my grandkids. Pallet wood is fine for some things but not children's things.

Nicely done...I am waiting for Netflix to run the last season. It could be sometime soon.

The other danger is breathing the fine dust and if your face is inches from the blade...not good. The fine dust will not likely to hurt you today but is a longer term risk.

I use them for sanding but not in my saw. I found emery boards wear out to fast and so make my own. I use popsicle sticks and self stick sand paper. I make them up in different grits. I think cheaper and better than emery boards.

I use the Loc Line and it has not worn at all. Replacement 1/4" is less than $8.00 on Amazon and free shipping with Prime. I use the 3/4" size for dust pick up. The best dust collection is done closest to the source. I think blowing it away with a fan creates a hazard because the second fan with a filter will not get all of it.

These shows are an interesting problem. It is expensive and time consuming to put them on. Each company that comes makes a decision on the cost to go versus the potential sales profit. Fox Chapel stopped their show due to costs. We are left with a handful of these smaller shows. Every person that goes also weighs the cost versus the value of being there. I went because I wanted to try some different machines. I tried an Excalibur and liked it. The PSWood machine did not interest me. I would have loved to try the Seyco machine but they were not very outgoing about demonstrating or letting one try it. They put a sold sign on the one they had out to look at. So....if people go to these shows, they will continue but if people stay away, the shows will go away. On a side note, I found Dubuque to be an interesting city. Eagle Point Park was beautiful. I went to the National Mississippi River Museum and really enjoyed it. There are several other aces near it like Stone Cliff Winery which were very nice and had a good lunch.

It is too bad you are disappointed.... But, I am thankful for the Art Factory for hosting the show and arranging classes. No,it is not like the Fox Chapel shindig but I had a good time. It is doubtful we will see another show like the Fox Chapel one. We can hope for it. I would be willing to pay a higher admission and class fee to go to one. The dinner that they had at Eagle Point Park was fantastic and a lot of people attended. The park sits high over the Mississippi River with spectacular views of the river and locks. It was just perfect weather and very good food. I had dinner and talked about scroll sawing. At the show, I also talked with a number of people about their projects. Yes, it would have been nice to have more vendors but I am happy. There is also things to see in Dubuque. I went to the National Mississippi River Museum and it is new and interesting and had some 4D movies. I also made it to the Star Brewery and Stone Cliff Winery for lunch. There is also a casino but I spent money at the show. Anything we can do to encourage and support local or regional shows is great.

I voted for the locomotive one for the best. It is incredible Intarsia.

I like them especially the first one.

Went to the Scroll Saw Show today. I was able to try an Excalibur for the first time and cut a simple pattern. I liked it. I also got to see the Seyco saw and was impressed. It has a huge table on it and the fit and finish look great. I did not get to drive it but others did. I also was able to meet The Famous Ray. Seemed like a nice guy and knowledgeable. He said they had already sold several at the show. I also attended an Intarsia class by Garnett Hall. It was an Intro type class but always worth listening and pick up a few tips. Going to the dinner tonight at Eagle Point Park and be able to talk with other scrollers.

I have a Hegner but tried an EX for the first time today and it cut great.

I will be there with my Cubs shirt on.

I have also been to it and gotten great deals on Wood.
