  3. It's a PUZZLE!!!! Terrific job!
  4. This is the reply I received: you can order our magazine FEINSCHNITTkreativ in our onlineshop http://www.drechslermagazin.net/dmshop/. It is possible to pay it with PayPal. That would be the best if you live in the United States. We also send our magazine to your address in the United States. If you want to order a subscription you have to order this http://www.drechslermagazin.net/dmshop/feinschnittkreativ/124-abo-ausland-feinschnitt-kreativ.html. Unfortunately I do not know German and can not navigate the website to order the magazine. It is 39 euro plus shipping. I went to Google and got an English translation of the first page but it won't let me "Add to Cart" . When I add to cart in the German version I get another web page that is "Greek" to me.
  5. here is a link to a German scroll saw magazine: http://www.drechslermagazin.net/dmshop/feinschnittkreativ/130-feinschnittkreativ-ausgabe-2.html I sent them an e-mail asking about a subscription to a USA address. bb
  6. The absolutely best blade I have found for cutting 3/4" puzzles from hardwoods (cherry, canarywood, walnut, padauk, maple, etc) are the Pegas Modified Geometry Blades #3-#7. I used to use Flying Dutchman ultra reverse #5,7 but found the Pegas blades are much superior to the Flying Dutchman blades for cutting hardwood puzzles.
  7. I have good results with the Flying Dutchman Puzzle Blade on 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood. I have tried cheaper versions of 1/4" plywood, such as luan, with miserable results.
  8. Monti, Nice work indeed! But I'm jealous; how did you get a copy of the German magazine? I need it bad bb
  9. Thanks everyone for your nice comments. My granddaughter looked at it and thought it would look better if the pig had a white or natural maple wood wing.
  10. My penguin puzzle came from Fox's Animal Puzzles by Judy Peterson. The book has been updated and I don't know if it still contains a penguin. You will have to check with Fox. The penguin puzzle hasn't been a big seller so I discontinued it. I used to display it as a set of 3: large, medium, and small. papa, mama, kidlet.
  11. There are multiple solutions but I provide a cheat sheet for one solution (as shown)
  12. I have never done a show in Texas but wherever we do a show, Texas is the most requested state puzzle after of course the state we are exhibiting in. This is a tray type puzzle and measures 8" x 8" x 3/4". The animals are native to the state and are not stained - just assorted oiled hardwoods. A Pickens Puzzles Original.
  13. Randy, I'm impressed with your work. And thanks for the link to the tutorial.
  14. Edward, A big welcome from the top end of GA - Jasper! Try a puzzle or two - they are addictive. I'm convinced the Lowndes County Sheriff brings in enough $$ patrolling I-75 to fund the entire city! bb
  15. The "I Love You" piece could very easily be converted into a puzzle - might have to remove the # sign however. Just an idea.
  16. Penquin, I have a couple penguin puzzles but don't know if I can make them fly. ya just gotta believe they can however
  17. Indeed they do! A Pickens Puzzles Original.
  18. Montserrat, I contacted Fox and the book never got published. Complications over "rights" at the last minute. We lose.
  19. Montserrat, Says book is not available. bb
  20. Very nice. It didn't take Google long to pick up on your post with the image!! Just Google Saburo Oruro puzzles and your post comes up #1!!!!! I sure wish his book was available!
  21. That one sold at shows years ago for me but not anymore. last year folks wanted owls and whales. the "in" animal changes every year. Wish I could predict what the "in" animal will be for 2016. Any ideas? bb
  22. Recently bought a Brother L2700DW and love it. Wireless. B&W; no color. laser Printer, scan, fax. Also can enlarge. Paid ~$150 at office Max. I also have a HP6600 when I need to do color. I hate it. Replaced the color cartridges a month ago, made 4 color prints, and already magenta is low. There has to be better color printers out there.
  23. Hi Rick! Welcome aboard! You are probably not too far from Brasstown, NC - home of the John C. Campbell Folk School. Check out their classes at https://www.folkschool.org/ For the past 4 years we have had a puzzle booth at their Fall Festival, usually the first weekend in October. Come see us there in 2016!
  24. Hi Mike! Welcome aboard the scrollsaw train. You never know where it will take you. I grew up in Western NY and went to school in Syracuse. I had to look up Poughquag, NY; had no idea where it was. But when I visited relatives in the Albany area I always flew into White Plains and timed it so I had lunch at the Mt Kisco diner Try a puzzle or two; they are addictive.
  25. I had to look up viola The viola (/viˈoÊŠlÉ™/;[1]Italian pronunciation: [ˈvjÉ”Ëla]) is a bowed string instrument. It is slightly larger than a violin in size and has a lower and deeper sound than a violin. Since the 18th century it has been the middle voice of the violin family, between the violin (which is tuned a perfect fifth above it) and the cello (which is tuned an octave below it).[2] Had to look up fiddle too: Fiddle is another name for the bowed string musical instrument more often called a violin.[1] It is also a colloquial term for the instrument used by players in all genres, including classical music. Fiddle playing, or fiddling, which could refer to various styles of music. There are no real distinctions between violins and fiddles, though more primitively constructed and smaller violins are more likely to be considered fiddles. Fiddle is also a common term among musicians who play folk music on the violin. The fiddle is part of many traditional (folk) styles of music which are aural traditions, taught 'by ear' rather than via written music. It is less common for a classically trained violinist to play folk music, but today, many fiddlers have classical training. Someone asked how big it is: 10" x 5" x 3/4". Thanks for all the nice comments.
