  1. I have been seeing several boxes you guys have done with flocking on the inside. I thought I would give it a try and order a kit. The first project I did I wasn't really happy with. It came out a bit streaked. I thought I had plenty of flocking put on. I watched a few u tube videos and tried it again. Made another attempt. Tried to make sure I put on plenty glue and flocking. Same results. Suggestions are appreciated.
  2. Brenda, Thanks for the link. I started watching it. I have learned a few new things already that Travis didn't cover in his. Always something new to learn.
  3. Have you checked out the tutorials here on the village?
  4. A special thanks to neptun (Sasho) for the pattern. I added my own spin to it.
  5. He sells a DVD tutorial on Gimp. I don't know if that is what you are referring to.
  6. It is a Steve Good pattern.
  7. I have learned so much from all you guys here at the village. Thanks so much. When someone mentions a product I buy it and try it and see if I like it better than what I am using. I must admit that I have a few opened containers of product product that I might was well pitch because it I wasn't for me. I have four different types of sanding mops. I use them all depending on what I'm making. My go to finish on plaques is SW pre catalyzed lacquer. I spray it clear or in colors. I have tried everything and I keep going back to it. It isn't a great process for doing small pieces like this . I have found that I like using Watco Danish Oil followed up with a coat of Bees Wax and mineral oil. Special thanks to Kevin for doing the video of how to make it.
  8. I have a Pegas Scroll saw and use #3 blades. No problem here. ...what problem you having?
  9. RJ, Where in Texas are you?
  10. Super nice work there. It makes it soo much easier having two saws when doing inlays.
  11. The Titebond quick an thick is a little thicker than the Weldbond.
  12. Kevin, I just put drops around on my project. No need to try to cover the whole thing.
  13. Looks good Jim. I've been thinking of doing some flocking. Did you find it hard to do? What type of flocking did you use and where did you get it?
  14. Larry, Good to see ya back. Hope you and your wife are doing well.
  15. That one was Minwax Dark Walnut. I just got some Jacobean and it is a bit darker.
  16. They look great. You might want to try some Minwax Jacobeen.
  17. Looks good. Great job on the frame!
  18. Our local Hobby Lobby and Ace Hardware carries the Weldbond. Also easy to buy on line. I also use a empty Aleene's glue bottle to put the Weldbond glue into because it has a much smaller hole. It doesn't take much and and sticks well to stain or lacquer. After I put the scroll work on the backer I let it set for about five minutes and sandwich it between two slabs of granite to clamp it. I will take it out after about an hour and if there is a bit of glue that seeps out a bit I will scrape it off with a jewelers screw driver. It does dry clear so if you miss a small spot it isn't very noticeable.
  19. I have planed a 3/4" board down to 3/8" all on one side because I liked the way one side looked better than the other. It warped immediately. I'm wondering if it had to do with some kind of stress in the board.
  20. I don't like to buy a pattern unless I can down load it.
  21. I had several of you guys ask me about doing an inlay video. Our grandsons have been staying with us for the past week. My oldest one is twelve and is great on computer stuff so he helped me do this.
  22. I have tried to contact them........no responce.
  23. Are you cutting the holes for clock inserts with a scroll saw or using forstner bits?
  24. Don't be too hard on yourself. It looks great..........I don't think I have ever made anything that is perfect. That is part of the beauty of being hand made.
  25. My gosh Ray. You outdid yourself on that one. You need to take a better picture of the top for us to see.
