  1. One of the few nice things a Brigade Commander once said about me. I cut an open cross as part of a project, pic one, and while I am getting better at straight lines, it still needs sanding -sigh. As I was falling asleep last night I was trying to imagine holding sand paper around a stick and sanding the inside of the cross. This morning I woke with an idea. Dremel Roto Multi Max (pic 2) - handy thing it is. I had a worn out narrow blade, some 77 spray glue and I stuck it on the back side of some 320 grit sandpaper (pic 3). I buy round sand paper in bulk, so it was easier to use that. Razor knife and it was cut out (pic 4.jpg). And it works like a champ ! ! (pic 5) The knife is on top to hold the cross so I could take a pic with one hand while holding the dremel in position. Hope it helps someone who needs this kind of thing, with my luck I rediscovered the wheel and everyone else already has it done. :-) Jim edited cause my memory is faulty - or so she says anyway
  2. the second one, Wen, "usually ships in one to two months" really?! Interesting to me that nothing in the ads, mention a db rating so noise levels between products can be compared
  3. Very nice work
  4. Very creative and well done
  5. Very nice, the oval cross is particularly impressive
  6. As stated wood will show burn marks. Take the bowl you make, get some tine glass beads (think sand blaster), or good decorative fine sand and fill it 3/4 of the way, if you can use a dremel with a small (3/8) drum and make depressions on each side to rest the cigarette on.
  7. Very nicely done
  8. #2
  9. Well you were wrong when you said "fairly elegant" gift box. Not sure what is above elegant in adjectives but you are there, best looking pen/pencil gift box I have ever seen. Kudo's
  10. Merry Christmas to all, and here's hoping everyone has a better year each year going forward
  11. I use the browser options menu and print the whole thread to pdf, then save that pdf in a tips folder. If you do not have a pdf printer installed, goggle for free pdf printer, cutepdf is one that I know is free and works I dislike bookmarking since sites often get redesigned, or purged of old posts.
  12. Ditto Couldn't have said it better myself. Merry Christmas to all, and here is hoping that the new year be better than this one.
  13. Beautiful, just beautiful
  14. Thanks again Tony
  15. Thanks Tony now that I know what to search for, I'll get on it. Edit. Found it, the line we have is 1/4" correct?
  16. With the loads of emails they are going to get from that form on the web site, I hope they respond to mine. I WANT that 90 degree blower end. I asked if it would be available as a replacement part, now or in the future.
  17. Very nice. I have not tried 3d cutting yet but those wet my appetite, I guess I know what is next on the list. Jim
  18. Clean cutting and a beautiful plaque
  19. Frank, I have a Tupperware bin I use for scrap. One heck of a lot lighter to carry when I have to dump it, I guess I am lazy. I feel better about my blade use though, either I am using them too long or you are cutting harder wood than I am.
  20. Wow, great cutting, I especially like the photo holding one - super!
  21. Sorry I misunderstood. Is the NVR switch built into the machine? It does not look like it from the picture I found.
  22. With the caveat that I do not have a DW, the concern I have is the periodic catch sound when it is running. Odd noise IMO, it is periodic and the frequency does change as you change speed, but I can not imagine what would cause it since it is not every stroke, or stroke cycle
  23. this is what I use http://www.harborfreight.com/momentary-power-foot-switch-96619.html If I had the schematic for the VNR, and if it did not use black box sealed components inside it, I might be able to figure a jumper connection, but to me the effort is not worth the price of new switch
  24. Beautiful work
  25. I like them all, but that two tone ring is a standout.
