  1. Thanks. I use Shellac 50% with denatured alcohol. This makes a thin solution that I dip projects into. It is quick drying and when dried, a light sanding with a Mac Mop.
  2. Thanks JR. Maybe one a week for the next few weeks.
  3. This is #3 of a series of 12. The patterns are by the late Dirk Boelman, and I purchased the set from Scroller Online, but they no longer list these. I used 1/4" Walnut scraps. It is approximately 5" high. I make these wile I wait for the glue to dry on other projects. I used FD UR #1 blades and finished with one coat sanding sealer and two coats spray Polyurethane Clear Gloss. Comments welcome.
  4. A beautiful piece of art.
  5. Another welcome from East TN. If in the neighborhood, stop by and test the Pegas Scroll Saw.
  6. Correct. All seem to be made in the far east. "Made in Taiwan" seem to be better quality.
  7. Not sure if they are the same, but be sure it is not made in China. I heard major concerns.
  8. I agree with Kevin. In the store, a Shop Vac would be way too noisy. The first demo went smooth.
  9. No, there is no pickup on the top. With a little clean up, the dust on the top can be pushed through to the collector.
  10. Ray at Seyco included a three point plug adapter, so I plugged both the saw and vacuum into the foot switch.
  11. It is on the Seyco site under scroll saw accessories. A bit pricey at $180.
  12. I set up the Pegas scroll saw at ArtCrafters for test drives, demos, and lessons. Since this is an art gallery, we had to keep the dust to a minimum. I installed the Seyco Dust Collector on the Pegas saw. It was an easy install, but I used a couple of extra zip ties to hold the hoses. The vacuum is connected to the foot pedal, so that it will be on only when the saw is running. After some time, I will give an update.
  13. Thanks Melanie for the comments. I couldn't agree more. I also found that Fox Chapel is planning an open house next spring.
  14. Again, thanks all for the very nice comments.
  15. Very well done. Nice frame too.
  16. Charles, I just got SWWC in the mail and there is your "Bear Cub Fretwork" on page 56. That sure looks like a fragile piece.
  17. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. At ArtCrafters, we received the Pegas Scroll Saw for classes, demos, and test drives. I set it up. but waiting for the Seyco vacuum system before I play with it.
  18. Welcome to the forum from TN.
  19. Welcome to the forum from Tennessee.
  20. Thanks Les. I prefer flat blades, but this one just asked for spirals.
  21. Thanks RJ. I have maybe 4 hours into this one.
  22. Thanks for the nice comment.
  23. Thanks Al. I enlarged the pattern by 25% to make it a little easier.
  24. The pattern is by Theodore Buzzeli and found in CWWC September 2007. It is cut on 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood 12" square and backed with a black mat board. I used FD New Spiral #1 blades and finished with two coats spray Shellac. As a framing store, I will leave this unframed. The customer can chose the frame. Comment welcome.
  25. Very well done. Great idea of leaving the back unfinished for signing
