  1. Since my daughter is getting ready to move to Phoenix next month, I'm suddenly interested in the weather out there.
  2. WOW! Really good job on that. A true keepsake.
  3. Here is a link to the patterns, which include some (if not all Canadian Provinces). http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/product/SNKSET1
  4. That is Keith Fenton/Sheila Landry. He has all 50 states. Really great collection. Main website http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/scroll-saw-patterns She offers a monthly newsletter that is always interesting to read.
  5. Boy, I screwed up that quoted text- Hit the "Read more" for my offer.
  6. Fine craftsmanship on that one. Sure to be in a place of honor.
  7. Excellent version of a great pattern. You can't go wrong with FD-UR blades. They are great for this type of work--especially in cherry.
  8. I need advise from my more experienced brethren and sisters here. I have a table at work that I am thinking of top coating with Minwax Wipe On Poly Acrylic. BUT--I need to hear other experiences with dry time/cure time on this product. This table will be used for a very important meeting Thursday morning and I need to make sure there will be no tackiness, etc. Conditions are air conditioned. I could use spray lacquer which I know dries very fast, but the stain is a Minwax product, so I am trying to stay "in the family".
  9. We tried to start a scroll club in central Indiana, but the travel distance put an end to it pretty quickly. For me it was an hour each way (others maybe farther) and while the folks at Rockler went out of their way to give us a good place to meet, the weather and time just got to be too much and it dissolved after a few months.
  10. Especially if you make it from POPLAR. Sorry, I couldn't resist! Maybe a little glitter on the horn
  11. Last fall when I was doing a ton of birdhouse, I was buying square dowels from the lumberyard. You can buy them in fractional sizes up to about 1 3/4" and for most patterns they are good. I was using 1 1/4" poplar and they stuff turned out very well.
  12. Mine was clear lacquer/blue paint.
  13. Anyone who tries to operate a forum like this, maintain a family life, and real employment has more stuff in the air than a troupe of jugglers. Travis truly is appreciated--although not thanked enough until the feces hits the oscillator.
  14. LEDs work very well to edge light plexi. Think mounting them in the bottom of the stand.
  15. Good looking pattern and cutting. I'm getting to try my hand at some quilt squares--coloring and all.
  16. What lens? Looks like the 8mm I just got. Great shot--nature cooperated on this one!
  17. Kev The picture did not post
  18. I also ordered one because of this--but I have to get all the spring yard work done before I really test it. If I remember, I think I ordered the 320.
  19. Quick question--Do you keep your stock in alphabetical order to fill an order quickly?
  20. I'll second the Baby Soda Bottles. They are great for blades. Need to get more and steal Stoney's design for a holder on the saw.
  21. I'll add my thanks--but right now, I have enough stuff in the "must cut" pile that my grandkids will be cutting the stack when they get into their 60s!
  22. Jim: I will turn on the flashlight tonight and you can "come toward the light". Just a minor upgrade compared to what we went through on the other site.
  23. For all of you who cut (or want to cut) old records, I was just in a pawn shop the other day and they had a big box of records (I had never heard of most of the artists) for like $12~15. Probably 50 or so albums in there. So, if you are looking for cheap stock, a pawn shop or even a Goodwill might be a good place to look. Happy Hunting!
  24. Cool Hand Luke is the source of that memorable quote.
