  1. Lots of drilling and blade clamp work there. A true test of patience to achieve such a good piece.
  2. Sylvia did a wedding pattern for us many years ago and disappeared. I have tried to contact her a couple of times to Express my thanks, but have not heard anything from her. A great talent for sure.
  3. Pete I have done about 20 birdhouses and don't use a clamp. Like you, I tape the first cut back in place. If I ever did a larger piece, I might consider a clamp.
  4. I am in my second week with the Pegas clamps and they seems to work just fine. I need to make some minor adjustments on them to fit my routine, but they work great and I seem to be able to pull the blade a half notch tighter on my DeWalt. Now, the old holders had lots (and lots) of blades changes on them, but the Pegas just seems to hold the blade better.
  5. Good cutting, but the live edge and worm holes are what really turn it into a WOW piece.
  6. 12 times zones away and I the same thing. Various projects in various stages of completion.
  7. You may have taken a break from the saw for a few years--but your talent and imagination have not missed a second. Great work, mate.
  8. Your painting is always spot on. It really make the piece pop out of the frame. I take it your hand is QUITE steady.
  9. I don't use muffs at the saw, as I feel I need to listen to music the blade and the wood make. But, I do have a set of headphones designed to take to the race track that I hook to my iPod while mowing. Serves two purposes--cuts the engine noise and gives me some entertainment. My mow job is not as big as Kevin's, but it is more than a few minutes.
  10. Holy smokes!! Lots of cuts there and a good job on each of them.
  11. Nothing quite the sound of a piece of stock slapping the table when the blade lifts it. Admit it or not, everyone has done this a few times.
  12. Five gallon bucket on left side of saw! Good for cut outs, pattern edges, and glued/taped bundles of BEAUTIFUL firewood. If you don't mess up every now and then, you lose the desire to get better.
  13. But I have learned planetary alignment, been reminded of Murphy, found out @Scrappile is in the process of deforesting Arizona, etc.
  14. The rear of my table is about three inches higher than the front. That makes it easier to look down on my work and gives me a better perspective on the blade and cut ahead of me. On a flat table I felt I could not see as well. On one of my older saws, I made a block to go under the rear legs to tilt the table.
  15. Sit. I use a stool that is 29 inches high. The front of my tilted DeWalt is 43 inches.
  16. ...why is the air dead still until I get a paint can in my hand? Now it's blowing about 15mph and spray painting is out of the question.
  17. I had a very cheap venturi style from Harbor Freight, but it was a bear to clean and I got frustrated with it. Thinking of buying a gravity style. I used it for small jobs and accent colorings.
  18. Thanks Bill for the assist.
  19. I use a Dremel and if the piece allows, I will use the Dremel drill press attachment. If not, I use the Dremel with a speed square to help guide me.
  20. Toss one of them on the table during your next departmental meeting and then announce your retirement.
  21. I see a lot of pallets here also. Mostly, I see oak, pine and poplar. I did get a couple of slabs of book matched ash a few years ago. If you keep your eyes open, there is a good chance you will find some good looking wood from time to time. But, Bill is correct and most of the stuff is junk wood. In my line of work, many are stained with machine oil and other solvents, so they are worthless.
  22. Charlie Don't know if you realize it or not, but your cutting made the Village Instagram feed.
  23. Script is tough enough in word art, but then to put the italic in with it makes it more impressive. That is a piece to be treasured.
  24. You two truly captured "the look". Congrats to the cutter and the pattern maker.
  25. You have not lot your touch. Awesome as usual.
