  1. This is like the old movie serials. Can't wait to see what's coming next.
  2. I have purchased a lot of wood from Sloan's in the past, but the last bunch I got was from the Klingspor location in Hickory, NC. Granted, I was in there and ran into the stack, but I pulled the top five sheets and they were great. Might give them a call--a great bunch hanging around the counter.
  3. Great execution of the patterns.
  4. That should keep you busy for a day or two!
  5. Ray: Not being a smart alec, but Google the conversion on 68°C.
  6. As my old DW788 screws were aging (since replaced by Pegas), I would put a piece of sandpaper on a marble tile and then sand the ends flat using that set up. Seemed to get me an extra few months before I did eventually buy a new set of screws. When It was time for another set, that's when I upgraded the clamps.
  7. Here's where I bought mine years ago: https://www.stevespanglerscience.com/?s=BABY+SODA+BOTTLES&post_type=product (Just ordered some for the new blade brands I'm now trying)
  8. Great idea and skillful execution. I'm sure that will be treasured.
  9. Like the idea of the purple heart birds, but last fall, I did a batch with poplar birds and then painted them. To some people, painting something that small is a hassle, but I found a bit of challenge. The birds didn't actually resemble anything specific, but they did add color to the "porch". I did eight for my sister and gave her ten birds and perches so she could pick which bird went to a specific bird house and recipient.
  10. First--Great looking piece! I would probably use a pen applicator of gel super glue in 15 or 20 places around the overlay. Get the longer setting stuff (5 minutes or so) and use books or something as weight to clamp.
  11. The PC saw comes from the same stable as the Hitchai and I used a CW40 for many years with no problems. My annoyance with it was blade changes. Required a 3mm hex head. Hopefully, Porter changed that and went tool less. Definitely an upgrade for some, but as I said the CW40 was a solid performer. As you know, even an inexpensive saw will work better with quality blades (and determination from the driver).
  12. Boy, that printers ink got replaced by a lot of sawdust. Great work--as usual.
  13. If you can't find Deft, Watco makes a great lacquer in three sheens.
  14. I have 4 from Rockler and they seem to work well in my limited uses of them
  15. Great cutting. Sad story with a good twist finding the photo.
  16. Bigfoot--the undisputed world champion of hide-and-seek! Good looking puzzle. Sawdust on the hands beats printers ink any day. Been there for both and sawdust is much easier on the skin.
  17. My "must cut" pattern pile is beginning to look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If I never print another pattern, I'm set for about three years of non-stop cutting. (Probably need enough wood to build a 5,000 sq. ft. house)
  18. Have you thought of sandbags? I saw that tip for making knife blocks, which I am going to do soon. By using gravity, there is no torsion from the clamps
  19. (This is from the dark recesses of my aged and sometimes marinated brain. Subject to fact check by others) Technically, a BTU is the amount of heat required to heat one gram of water one degree Celsius. The BTU we deal with is actually a kBTU. That said, I have no idea how big a heater you need, but I know the oil filled electric radiators seem to do a good job once they get warmed up. Klingspor had a ceiling mount infrared radiant on sale pretty cheap.
  20. The longest three weeks a few years back was when DeWalt had my saw. Glad to hear you can once again participate in saw therapy.
  21. Just spray some outdoor grade poly on them and rock on! Sold a lot of Pioneer back in the 70s and 80s. The SuperTuner was a very sensitive radio with good filters.
  22. Knew you could do it.
  23. Great vision from the pattern maker and great execution by the cutter/finisher.
  24. My heart breaks your family---but the sentiment and cutting are beautiful.
