  1. Great job on the wheels like Kevin said. Did you use a Forstner bit for the wheels?
  2. I would dip it about halfway (vertically) in some lemon oil--just to complete the theme. Or mask the right side completely and spray the left side.
  3. Made a few each of these for an upcoming road trip. I give them to folks along the way who give great service, or just look like they could use a little light in their day. Generally made from 3/8" scraps, I seat thequarter flush in a 15/16" forstner hole with my homemade "quarter pounder" and then I countersink and glue a 1/4" magnet to the back. Might be a good seller for some of you (iggy comes to mind).
  4. Love the contrasting strips in the lids and the finish is mirror-like.
  5. Great awards. Actually, the lettering is an asset to the overall look. As John said, we are our own worst critics. (And I would proudly put one of them on the wall.)
  6. A lot time, famous people will assign management of their image and name to a management company and they are the one pursuing the copyright infringements. Marilyn Monroe has been dead for than 50 years, yet the management company still licenses her images. Many others are the same way. You may be right that no one in going to make you get a tattoo removed--but they could. I had someone years ago ask me to make some Indianapolis Colts stuff and rather than possibly get involved, I politely refused--invoking copyright protection. I've had some of my photographs used without permission before, so I am a bit touchy about the subject. Not that I would not have given permission, but they were reprinted without attribution or compensation.
  7. Maybe you should put Steve Good's Workshop or Judy Gayle Roberts' classroom in there somewhere.
  8. Looks great. Cutting Hawaii must have taken some time (and a zero insert).
  9. It would look a lot better filled with hot chocolate chip cookies!
  10. Les, Just did a couple of compounds in 1.5 inch poplar. Used #5UR and went slow on the cuts. Taped the pieces back in as I went and they turned out good. A couple of places I wish I had used a smaller blade for detail. I did try other blades, like Pegas MG and some Olson Mach, but kept going back to the Dutchman.
  11. I have stopped being awestruck by your work--I just expect everything you post to be outstanding. Finish is flawless and execution on the train is great.
  12. To echo Dave, I am truly sorry for the loss, but I think the cross is a work of beauty.
  13. Just picked up a recip saw last night and the special is still going on.
  14. Nothing changes on the DeWalt except the color of the clamps. They work exactly the same. I feel I get a better grip on the blade with the Pegas, but it could just be newer clamps.
  15. I have a Ryobi drill and impact set that came with two batteries. For the lightweight uses around the house, they have functioned very well for a couple of years. I have added a couple of other tools from the system and upgraded one of the batteries to a 4aH.
  16. Just remember to drain the water from time to time.
  17. Frank: You did a great job on the cutting and framing of the plaque--BUT, you did a better job parenting a 25 year teacher. A hearty pat on the back is deserved.
  18. I sand the stock prior to attaching the pattern and use a 240 sanding mop if needed after cutting. (going to buy a 320 or 400 this year when I stop at Klingspor) I also use emery boards for the fine detail work.
  19. Lots (and lots) of fine work on the body of that creature. But--we have all come to expect that from you.
  20. We tried to start a club here in central Indiana, but trying to draw from a large area spelled doom from the outset. We were all active posters over at the old magazine board, but I have not seen or heard from any of them for a long time.
  21. Looks great. Great idea on answering the computer questions up front.
  22. Lots of sawdust removed and puzzled discovered in all that wood. Storage looks full. Put your feet in the water and enjoy being at the beach.
  23. Knowing the finish you put on those toys years ago, can't wait to see the pictures.
  24. I might just have do one for our conservation club.
  25. The late, great Rodney Dangerfield.
