  1. Welcome from Montana. Looking forward to seeing some of your work!
  2. Those are definitely interesting and look great. Good job!
  3. Wow!
  4. Very cool!
  5. In my area, seems like people can't get enough of it. I have a list of people who have ordered these signs. Good thing is, I know enough people with old dilapidated homestead shacks that getting free wood isn't a problem. Although, it isn't always the most enjoyable material to work with.
  6. Well done. Looks great.
  7. Well Done!
  8. This is why I live where the air hurts my face 4 months out of the year. I'm with Old Hudson, I can deal cold. But then I grew up here. All jokes aside, I wish you and everyone in the path of Irma the very best. Hopefully the damage isn't too bad.
  9. I haven't posted much because I've been busy with orders for the Montana Wallhangings. This one was a custom order for a small community college, so it's a little different than the norm. I was asked to do my normal wallhanging with the college logo on it. I was able to find some old barnwood with a little red left on it that kinda matches the school's color scheme.
  10. Wow. Beautiful! Great job!
  11. Welcome from Montana.
  12. Wow. Well done. Besides the great job on the lighthouse, I really like your frame.
  13. I haven't used brown paper, but usually go over all my finished pieces with regular white copier paper. It takes off any rough areas in the finish, especially if I've finished with a spray poly.
  14. Beautiful wood!
  15. I have, once or twice. Last time a piece jumped on me and my hand slipped off and into the blade. I think the other time I was cutting a very small part, and thought I could get just a little closer... Both were just deep enough to require a bandaid. Just because it's unlikely doesn't mean it's impossible. My brother has found a way to run a finger into the blade every time he's tried to use a scroll saw. So, he's quit trying. He'd rather use his fingers to drink beer.
  16. Great Job!
  17. I started in high school shop class on some sort of a cheap knock off saw. Maybe they were craftsman, I really don't remember. However, looking back, they had to be sturdy to withstand what us high schoolers put them through. I bought my first Delta SS250 in college, around 2002. I mostly just dinked around with it making things for friends and family as the need arose. After college, I found a few scrolling catalogs and started to get more interested in fretwork. After a few career changes and moves, I've finally gotten pretty serious about it. The Delta was starting to give up last winter, so I finally stepped up to the new Jet saw. I was wanting an Excalibur, but that was when they were unavailable and the Seyco was still in production. I love the Jet. The upper clamp makes switching holes awesome. I can't comment on any of the other saws, as I haven't even had a chance to look at most of them. But I like the one I have.
  18. Nice job on the cutting!
  19. Wow. Great Job!
  20. Joe has a good point with the horse or horse trailer mats. They usually come in larger rectangles and maybe firm enough to roll tools and stools on. I'd probably just try one to see if you can roll around on it before making a big investment.
  21. Welcome from Montana. Looking forward to seeing your work.

  24. Get ready to go down the rabbit hole. Good advice above. Sounds like you've got most of what you need already. Only thing I'd add would be small set of riffler files. You should be able to find some reasonably cheap on-line or at your local hardware store. They are handy for removing the fuzzies and burrs from the bottom of your cuts.
