Welcome to the Village from East Tennessee. Look forward to your participation.

Tell her nice work and also tell her she needs to join us here in the Village as a fellow scroller,

I.m not aware of one. If there is, hopefully someone will enlighten us. I feel your pain and have had that happen. Like you, I tend to not recreate it and either say forget Igor do something shorter. Sometimes using 5e back button in my browser has gotten some of it back.

Hi Dick and welcome to the Village from East Tennessee. Glad you found us and introduced yourself. Look forward to your participation. Thanks for showing some pics. Nice work. I u Dre’s Tandy life getting in the way.

Mainly wanted to say welcome Charley. Lots of information given here on this thread, and on this forum about the different saws available. Just to add to your confusion, be sure to check out the new Jet scroll saw that came out in the last year as well as the new Seyco saw (http://seyco.com) that also came out last year. I believe Seyco also sells the Jet. Seyco has been for many over the years, the go to place for the purchase, service and repair on the Excalibur line of saws which is to my understanding, where the King brand has come from. Good luck with your decision.

To add a note about getting better baltic birch plywood - if you are in an area that has some of the larger crafts stores (Michael's, AC Moore, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn's, etc.) you can check and see if they carry some and what sizes. Some in my area carry some pretty good sizes and you can get and use their coupons on it. Usually almost all of them have a 40% off coupon every week, sometimes its a good week and they have a 50% off coupon.

You sir have the patience of a Saint. I would NEVER ever even think about cutting something like that, especially in the size of a trivet. I cannot imagine the time to drill all of those holes and then switch the blade from one to another. I am in awe of your find craftsmanship. Thanks for showing.

Only "trophy wall" I have is the one here in the village, under my user name - you know - where all those trophies have recently started piling up. I have a couple of my Intarsia pieces hanging on walls because my hubby hung them up. They are in the same room/area but not on the same wall. Now I also confess, there is not much hanging on my walls. When we built this house and moved in, I just never got the stuff hung - was trying to "live in the space" before trying to hang the artwork. Now, I keep saying we've been here so long we need to paint before we hang anything. I won't tell how long ago that has been.

Nice work so far every one. I finally got a chance to participate in this challenge. I have had a couple of "Easter" items laying on my desk to do for a couple of weeks at least. The standing bunny inside of the egg is a free pattern from Steve Good's site. You can find the thread on the blog here: http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/2014/04/part-three-of-toy-box-build.html or the direct link to the pattern here: http://www.stevedgood.com/easterbunnyegg.pdf - The Bunny candy dish is from Sheila Landry's Website here: http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/product/SLD272 The pattern costs $2.95. The site information says it is about a 5x5 finished piece but he's pretty small. I am thinking about making him bigger maybe for a bigger dish. The size "as is" would make a great little item to sit by plates at Easter dinner. It will hold about a small handful of M&Ms or something small like that I think. She shows it painted or left natural wood.

See Travis' post here that explains it: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/28411-new-feature-achievement-awards/ As he "adds" the different awards and their criteria, it goes back and picks up what has already been done or "met" for that criteria and "populates" the members' profile with the "trophies" that have already been earned. He clearly added some new ones today.

hmmmm - "warmed up" in Canada - most be different from my "warmed up" Excellent looking work all around. I made my niece and nephew wine holders similar to that for Christmas. What I didn't check BEFORE i put a bottle of wine with it was if the top of the bottle of wine would fit through the hole. Didn't think about it because the bottles I had at my house that I had tried did fit. Of course, the ones I bought and included as part of their "gift" did not - it was too big! Go figure! Thanks for showing.

Another excellent job and i too would be glad to drill less holes and make less cuts. I really liked this pattern but my mother was the sewer/quilter in the family so no one to do it for anymore. Thanks for sharing.

Nice work Jeff. I really like the Indian themed patterns. You did a great job on this one, despite the issue you encountered. Thanks for sharing that and letting us learn from your attempts. Good to know.

That is just beautiful Dan. I really like it with the "live" edge on it. Since your brother gave you the wood, is he going to want it back when he sees how nice it looks now? Thanks for sharing.

Excellent work. Beautiful picks. I know some guitar players in the family who would love the box and the pics. Thanks for showing.

I couldn't agree more Ray, Steve Good and his blog and free patterns does so much for the scroll saw hobby. I have only had occasion to email him a time or two. The one that "mattered" to me was for a pattern he had shown on his blog in a photo, but not shared the actual pattern (the volleyball trophy). He promptly replied and generously provided me the pattern when I emailed and asked if it was available. I just wish we had waited a few days to put my Seyco saw together until AFTER he had done his and put his video out on it, would have saved my hubby some tense moments and choice words. I don't know where I would have been in this hobby with out the Village, Steve's blog and patterns, and SSWC magazine and their forum.

Welcome to the Village from East TN. Glad you have spoken up and joined us from the nearby village of lurkdom. I am the same, tend to lurk and learn for a bit before I join in. I joined in almost two years ago and found a great group of guys and gals here who are more then willing to help out with any and all questions and love to see pictures. Thanks for sharing some. These look nice and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Ok - glad it was different. I was just worried that you had posted over there and it was missed somehow. The search feature over there never seems to work well - at least for me. I did finally manage to search for your user name (I assumed like me and many, you would be using the same one) and found some really old posts from several years ago and that was it. I did check out Steve Good's forum once but didn't find much activity there and decided I had plenty taking up too much of my time so I haven't been there in a long time. Steve did note just recently on his blog that he can't keep up with the emails so not to feel bad if you never heard back from him so I am sure he is seldom if ever over on that forum.

Very nice work all around. Glad you are getting your son interested. Thanks for sharing pics.

Hmmm - Ray, what site did you post some questions at? I believe trackman is referencing the site affiliated with SSWC magazine, scrollsawer.com (the numbers match up regarding members and active.) Is that the one? I ask because I have been on both sites since I found them almost two years ago. This one by far gets more "action" every day but usually, on that one, if someone asks a question - someone will answer it fairly quickly there too. Some of the members like me and several others (won't name names because I would hate to miss someone ) are on both sites. I check both sites daily and I don't recall seeing you post on that site but perhaps I missed it. I do know that that site sometimes seems to have some "glitches" from time to time that I have encountered but I am confident that normally someone would reply if the post is seen. So, if its that site - can you show me where your questions are so I can figure out why I and others might have missed them?

Glad to hear that you and the Cardiologist came around and worked it out together and you got some positive information and good news. Nothing going to make you feel better then getting into your shop and being allowed to drive. Glad the trophies just added icing to your cake for the day. Now, looking forward to seeing what you do in your shop.

Dick, since you are now in AZ - rather than trying to use it to unglue something - it would be better to save it and use it for when you get that inevitable sunburn. At least that is what I had used on me as a child. Hated it, always thought you smelled like a pickle after!

Thanks Randy. When I bought the used purple one from Seyco - it was noted in the description that it had been modified to use the original EX tension levers. At the time, I don't think I knew enough to understand what they meant! Here is a photo of my purple one showing it has the knob in the back and the flip tensioner up front. Same as my Seyco saw shown 2nd versus the Dewalt which looks like the purple excalibur picture you have shown with no knob in the back and the slide over tensioner knob. The Seyco is my go to saw and the Excalibur is setup next to it in the shop and gets some use. The Dewalt is out in the garage now and hubby keeps asking me what I am going to do with it. I told him to leave it alone.

Dick - probably the "time" you had paid to support has passed. That happened last year, I had gotten an email about it before it "expired" I think but I get so many emails I had passed it by to do "later" problem is, I then forgot to do later and then one time happened to notice that my support badge was no longer there on my profile pic area. It's easy to remedy - just to the the "support SSV" tab at the top (when on a computer) - see the screen shot I have included - click there and then select and click on the "Become an SSV Patron" and choose the category of your choice for your support. (See 2nd screen shot.) Even if someone doesn't want to be a listed "supporter" - you can also make a one time donation or an additional donation above the SSV Patron by clicking on the "Donate to SSV" option.
