  1. So Randy, what you are saying and the part that matters most to me - is that the Purple 21" Excalibur Saw that I bought used from Seyco a couple of years ago is in fact an actual original excalibur that was built in Canada before the manufacturing was changed to green and Taiwan. Good to know - I was never really clear on the "history" as to where the purple fit in. I bought it because it was an Excalibur brand machine that was suppose to be one of the better machines (and the purple color was a bonus to me because it is my favorite color. ) I also have an Original Dewalt Type 1 so I think I should hold on to both of them given the "known" history of them.
  2. An East Tennessee welcome. Glad to have you join us. Look forward to your participation.
  3. Roberta and Brian, it sounds like your Browser has been “hacked” so to speak on your end on your device. See this thread here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/28592-hacked/ you probably need to delete your browser histories, remove cookies, and remove web site data to cleanup your device and get it back to working properly. I have had it happen and it is frustrating I know. Hopefully clearing out your history and. Okie s can resolve it for you. Roberta, that thread has a link to an Apple support document that that will give specifics on how to do for your iPad. Brian, not sure if your phone is Apple or not. If so, it would be pretty much same. they haven’t hacked your device per say, but have hacked your browser and is using redirecting software or something that latches on to your visit history here to give you those pop ups.
  4. Beautiful work as always Dave. Wonder Woman is going to love it.
  5. Ah Charlie - so sorry to hear this for you and can say I have honestly felt the pain and issues. I've also had multiple cervical fusions. Prayers said that your surgery goes well, it helps elevate your pain and you can get back on your saw quickly. In the interim, we look forward to having you hang out with us here.
  6. Tell them with with a bit of shop therapy you will be much more pleasant to deal with on the other things. Continued prayers for you all.
  7. Thanks for sharing Iggy. I saw this too this morning and was intending to share it but figured it would take a bit to get the video available after they aired it and hadn't checked yet to see if it was up (got busy with some other things actually and had forgotten about it. ) glad you followed through to share it. I too thought it was interesting.
  8. Brad - please, do not feel the need to apologize. You can do exactly what you are doing - keep us up to date AND use it as a sounding board! No worries. I hope they can get your legs with more strength soon. Tell them if you need to sit, you can sit in the shop in front of the saw! That in its self would be good therapy. Please keep us up to date and keep sounding off as you need. Sometimes, we just need to sound off and here works.
  9. I was going to say the same thing that Dan already shared, if I want to see their real "name" I click on their username and it will take you to their profile page and usually you can find their first name there. While there, you can also learn a little more about them if they have shared anything there that they care to share. Also, some of us have done like Tony noted and have added our first name to our signature line. It does help to be able to call someone by their name but I don't mind using their username if that is all they are sharing.
  10. Welcome to the Form. Looks pretty good to me - especially with it being a compound cut. There was a thread or two here a while back - just before the holidays it seems - where several members shared tips and helpful information on cutting compound cuts like this. One of them was what Fred just noted, not to use a reverse tooth blade but to use a skip tooth blade instead. When I tried that, it made a big difference for me. I had never tried compound cuts before and those threads encouraged and helped me tremendously in giving it a try. @CharleyL gave some great detailed instructions in one of those threads. I will see if I can find it and post a link back here to it. If I don't find it, perhaps Charley or someone else can point us to it.
  11. Sounds like some great advise we all have learned at different times, and sometimes find we have to relearn some of it. Thanks for posting.
  12. Just wanted to make it clear - You did not offend me - I took it as you meant - tongue in cheek - just wanted to rib you back a little and point out that not all women are into shoes and purses. Some of us are just one of the guys who also likes the tools and gadgets.
  13. Nice work. Look forward to number 2 project on your new scroll saw.
  14. Nice work. I am with you, if she doesn't like this one move on. Tell her you are already back logged for 6 months, year whatever and really have no time.
  15. Rolf, no but then I don't tend to buy shoes or pocket books Not something I am "into" BUT one could also argue that shoes and pocket books are items of "clothing" for most women and I doubt that many men ask for permission to buy their clothes either (I suspect that for many men, their wife is doing that buying anyway - but that is another story ) We are blessed to be able to not have to "ask" when either of us wants to buy something - but like you - we do talk about big ticket items before either of us pulls the trigger. Lucky for me, he was the woodworker BEFORE i came back around to the scroll saw that I had had him buy many years ago SO, most of what I might want or need was already in the shop. Lucky for him - I am usually the one saying "go ahead" at the tool shop and the guys at the store always seem shocked that I am the one telling him to get it! He spoils me too, but its not with jewels, clothes, etc. but with the tools and equipment that I want - I return the favor! Makes for two happy people.
  16. Sammy as Iggy - I was able to download and review your PDF. Looks like some great instructions for building a stand for a scroll saw. If mine were not already on stands I would put hubby right on that! thanks for sharing.
  17. Well Charlie, while I personally find the "subject" a little off for my taste - I did want to acknowledge your fine work in cutting it out and I have no doubt that the recipient will appreciate your hard work in crafting it. Excellent work. However, I must say that most other SEC team fans would not find it "perfect for anybody's home". As a diehard Tenn fan and a mother of a Georgia Dawg student right now (yes, he broke my heart - but told him it could have been worse - he could have gone to Bama or FL!) I think you can understand my pain.
  18. Ray, hopefully you can figure it out from the guys post above, but if not, one of us could help you out and posts for you. You would just need to send it to one of us to add. If you need further help and would like me to do that, let me know. Happy to help. Here are couple of pics to show what they guys are talking about above:
  19. Happy Belated birthday.
  20. Welcome back. I hope you find that you can take it slow and do what you want when you want and enjoy the saw again. Look forward to your participation and showing your work.
  21. Welcome to the village. Good luck on your decision. Lots of good advice here on different options. Just have to decide what fits your needs and budget.
  22. Well, I am left handed. When you are left handed in a right handed world, you learn quickly to adapt and be ambidextrous. As a result, I have found that since my saws allow me to do either, I sometimes feed from the top, and sometimes from the bottom. The bonus is, I can hang out with either group and fit in.
  23. Nice work on both Paul. I like them both. Thanks for sharing.
  24. I think it’s ok to post a link to the magazine’s website where they have also provided an image of the panels on their site without restrictions it appears. Found here:
  25. Stunning work on all. You must be one patient person! Thanks for sharing.
