  1. No, I disagree - she can use it - just needs to wrap the empty box and put it under the tree.
  2. I think the biggest reason is as what has already been noted - its a new saw to the market - just released in the past 6 months. Same as the new Seyco saw. Neither gets much "chatter" right now. Until people who use saws now, need to replace one, you won't see a lot of chatter. Most people new to the saw and wanting to get started tend not to want to spend that much on a hobby they are not sure about. There was some chatter about the Jet and the Seyco saw when they were first introduced. Carole Rothman did a review on the Jetsaw which can be found on Youtube I believe. I think a couple people got the Jet and discussed it back then. A few of us got the new Seyco and there was some discussions on it then too. Steve Good has a video on his site and Youtube about the Seyco saw and setting it up. A must watch if you get the Seyco Saw in my opinion. It's a little tricky to get setup initially and Steve addresses that. He also has given some updated information on his usage of it on his blog. Hubby got me the Seyco as it came out just before Mother's Day and my Birthday (which are a week apart.) I have been using it as the main saw and I like it. a lot like the used Excalibur one I was using. Have had no issues with it. I was going to wait and listen and do some more watching since both the Jet and the Seyco had just come out but he did it as a "surprise" and I wasn't going to complain that he got me a new saw so I didn't look at the Jet after that.
  3. Hey, everybody needs an outhouse sooner or later - I look forward to seeing the changes you have made Monti.
  4. I think letting the cat out of the bag worked for you and those who shared and got some of your great work. Win-Win for all. Thanks for sharing.
  5. Congratulations on your new saw. Patience is not one of my virtues either but soon enough you will have that new saw home and set up and cutting away with it. Be sure to share what you are making with it and how you like it.
  6. Congratulations on the new saw. Enjoy it.
  7. I like it Monti. Perhaps if the house were bigger then the tree, or the tree was smaller then the house then the "outhouse" idea your husband put into your head would not be there. I always like to see what you have been up to. You always come up with some neat ideas. Thanks for sharing.
  8. As a Mickey Fan, I love it. Your work never ceases to amaze me on these boxes with the inlay. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Thanks Charley. I will try to do some soon but it may be the first of next week, unless I can try tomorrow. Unfortunately, the end of my week and weekend is already booked up away from my saw. I appreciate all the time you take to give detailed and through explanations as I am sure many others do as well. I do have that reindeer pattern and a couple of other simple compound cut patterns to try. I did look through my blades last night or this morning and found that I do have some that do not have reverse teeth on the bottom. Time is what I need to find now.
  10. Bumping this back up first to say thanks to Bill, Dan, Fred and Charley for sharing the info. on the blades to use, how to cut and align the pattern to the wood and how to cut them out. (Someone else had asked on a different thread about this thread and Charley pointed back to this one that I had forgotten about.) Second, to see if John @Old Dust had developed his tutorial on how to create a 3d Pattern its self (which is what I think he was offering to do.)
  11. Beautiful work all around. I really like that playing card holder - would be a great idea for my 90 year old father-in-law and their friends who play cards together. Will have to give it some thought but think I would stay away from that detailed of a pattern on it. I remember when @Birchbark Russell helped you out with the pattern for that. I am sure he will be thrilled to see it done. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Excellent work. I had that piece cut out but haven't finished it. Think I lost at least one of the tails in the shop vac. Need to pull it back out and see where I left off on it.
  13. Amazing looking piece with all that detail and your first time trying - masterful. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Too cute Kevin. I am sure the kiddos will have so much fun checking for the mail now! Thanks for showing.
  15. Always love seeing your inlay work. I'm like Paul - wish you I lived closer to you or Dave to "see" how you do it it. Stunning inlay work you both do. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Those are beautiful Dave. I love the look of the cedar and aspen together. I hope one day I can make a beautiful box like that with a different inlay though - Thanks for sharing.
  17. Thanks for asking your question and thanks for Charley for providing the link back to that post and the details he provides there. I've been wanting to give this a try and had forgotten about Charley sharing all this detail in that post as well as some of the other answers provided there that should prove helpful in my first few attempts at this. One was on the blade to use, I need to see if I have any that do not have reverse teeth as that was indicated to be the best. (I have printed off the detail information everyone provided there to give it a try soon.)
  18. Kevin - It's an Elephant. The University of Alabama's mascot used is an elephant (they call him "Al"). If you look real close, with that knowledge, you can see that it is an elephant.
  19. Welcome back. Hope you find the time to enjoy it soon.
  20. Not sure how I missed this initially last month - welcome from East TN. Look forward to your participation.

Very nice work. Thanks for sharing.
  22. So, are you selling any of those special pig roast designs you had Harvey do?
  23. Great - thanks for sharing that information. I guess I had somehow missed that in my perusal of his designs. (Or, I have it downloaded and have forgotten. Quite possible.)
  24. Another excellent piece you have crafted. I need to move that up on my to do list. Thanks for sharing your version. I like the lights.
  25. That's really nice work. Is this your pattern or available somewhere. I have a young friend who loves frogs that would probably like that. Thanks for sharing.
