  1. I always start with cursive. They are not difficult but take more care. Then I do the large letters.
  2. Get the Dremel plunge router kit and a Wen or Dremel tool with an adjustable chuck. Seems a good number of scrollers her use it including me.
  3. To some and to me it make viewing the pattern more easily. Seems to be a fairly common thing to do.
  4. Interesting. Coincidentally I raised the rear of my 18" Hegner to give me an 8 degree toward tilt.
  5. Lots being said about the saws with tilting heads. I have tried an EX21 but only for a couple of cuts. Very smooth machine. I can understand the appreciation for this machine and like machines. What I do not understand is the love for the tilting head verses a tilting table. I'm reading about inlays and such things but they require such small tilts like 2, 3, 4%. Tilting the table such a slight amount seems so simple. Here's hoping someone can tell what other projects would take a drastic tilt. Just my curiosity.
  6. I wanted to make picture frames and looked at miter saws. I did not want a sliding saw or a 12" saw due to space requirements. The advice I received here was I would be better off with a miter sled for my table saw. That is the rout I took and am glad for it. If I had room I would have a miter saw. Why? Because I don't have one.
  7. My father was a Lion's member for many, many years.
  8. Hi Dick, I have watched several videos including those by Travis. I can vie a video but I cannot understand what is said. My hearing loss is quite severe. Were it not for the generous scrollers here I would be quite limited. It is unfortunate I did not become more computer literate in the design department. I had all the graphic programs in my art department. Since we were doing work for designers and ad agencies We had to keep up with whatever they were using. I did not need to use it as I just hired people to do that work. I started out as a typographer business and over time also morphed into a commercial printing plant with a large art department. Now at 80 my desire for technology has waned. I do thank you for your suggestion!
  9. Great pattern!
  10. WOW! I agree with Jim Ern. At first look it does look like a sketch. A stunning pattern and you did such a masterful job of cutting.
  11. Congratulations on the new saw. Everyone loves a new toy! Enjoy.
  12. I think your caps lock is stuck.
  13. This a pattern by Don from Brooklyn., another one of our generous scrollers! It is of the my retina specialist who saved my eyesight. Had it not be for him I would not be scrolling. 1/2" oak, #5 Pegas MG. Yet to be finished.
  14. Wonderful. I like it.
  15. Great looking baskets!
  16. That's a great fun job!
  17. Very nice! Similar to ours which we seldom use. It faces west. Beautiful but too hot.
  18. This is just for information. JT had posted a 3M/Scotch tape web page some time ago listing the different specs. on their tapes. Should be on here somewhere. It is informative. I have Scotch 2080. One roll is blue 1-1/2", the other is lavender 2" Both are for light release. The other roll I have is 2090 blue, 2" and sticks like gangbusters. It is too strong for my use.
  19. Looks wonderful. Why the 6 degrees? Won't that leave a hole farther from the edge of the pattern? Just would like to understand. I cant't see an entry hole on your photo.
  20. Kevin, unfortunately I have to go to Harbor Fright tomorrow and return the defective magnetic pick-up tool I bought there. It refuses to stick to my Hegner. Not sure why so I may just get a replacement to see if that works. Heh, heh
  21. The Hawk and Hegner tables are aluminum. Aluminum oxidation will always rub off unless polished to a mirror finish which is hard to keep. The Masonite or counter top material (can't remember the name now) works or use Kevin's methods. I don't worry much about the back anyway as there is usually a backer on the things I cut.
  22. I could use the same information!
  23. I think it is not worth looking for when you can order it from home on you cell phone. Often next day delivery depending on where you live. I find myself using Amazon more all the time. And their selections are outstanding. Easier than spending time and gas looking for things. That being said, I sometimes feel guilty not using local vendors. A sign of the times.
  24. Cool pattern and cool video.
  25. I just received a roll of 3M Scotch 2080 from Amazon today. I is specifically made for delicate release.
