  1. I used to read magazines and newspapers and subscribed to lots of magazines especially "How to Do" magazines. I have given away stacks of magazines. Now it is You Tube. The only subscription I have is "Scroll Saw Woodworking." I do read many books on my smart phone a real time killer.
  2. Thanks everyone. Klingspor is what I was looking for. I checked out the mac mop. Holy smokes, I decided it was outside my budget. My stuff could get by with a wire wheel on a six inch grinder. Klingspor is how I will go. Thanks again, Les
  3. There has been discussion in the past about flap wheels. a specific brand was mentioned. What was it? What other things do you use. I have belt sanders, Dremels, Foredoms, palm sanders and sandpaper. Just wondering what others are using.
  4. Beautiful piece of wood. I have driven through western Nebraska many times and it is great likeness of the sand hills. I think I would frame the piece of wood with a small brass plaque with a description of it's meaning.
  5. Been to a couple of sawmills years ago. Fascinating. A couple were in Oregon and one on Vancouver Island. Also saw one at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion. Too old to travel anymore but have great memories. Love old stuff.
  6. Hi Slasher, When I had my motorcycle and then purchased a $27,000 CanAm Spyder there was no way they were going to be outside in the weather. It would be like hanging a Picasso out in the rain. Cars belong in driveways unless a four car garage is available.
  7. Really like the pattern and the cutting is great.
  8. Great looking and great cutting. You are amazing!
  9. The ornaments look super. Hope for many sales.
  10. Thanks. So few law officers receive the appreciation they deserve.
  11. Wish I were so talented.
  12. Really cool. Are these 45, 72, 33 rpm? Nice cutting!
  13. I'll have to do some looking on UTube. I'm no wood worker but think it would be cool to make some. I don't know a dado from a dufus.
  14. Don't know where the pattern came from but Kevin, you are the man. My word art hero.
  15. Thanks Scrappile, The saw has turned out to be very stable and vibration is negligible. I've used it enough to discover also how to get the proper tension on blades without using the clock positions demonstrated by Hawk. Also since there is no up front blade release I just flip up the back lever make the change and flip the lever down. Reason it works so well is the saw is only a 16" so I flip the lever with out having to even lean forward to reach it. I guess unless you have a Hawk this will not make a lot of sense. But then in my old age I ramble. Kindest Regards, Les
  16. Thank you Scrappile!
  17. I think Lenin said, "If one hears a lie often enough it will soon be accepted as a truth." At least I think he said that. My wife has lied to me about my snoring so often I'm beginning to think it is true.
  18. Got that right!
  19. I've not used the saw since late May. Most of June and July was spent getting the house back in shape after a nasty June hailstorm. New roof, entire house repainted, patio rebuilt and recovered, new fence and damage on vehicles repaired. Things are shipshape now. Sold the Spyder in June (getting too old to ride any great distance) so wife wants her half of the garage back. Who ever heard of a car in the garage. It should be called a car shed. So time was spent rearranging everything leaving my little shop totally disorganized. Yesterday was my first time back at the saw so this is my first little project. Wife thinks it is appropriate.
  20. Hi Rolf, I love the lathe. At the time I was looking for a bench-top lathe the local Woodcraft was out of stock on the Rikon lathe and could not say when they would come in. I'm not too patient and was not interested in a Jet (which is a good lathe) so I searched Amazon and found the Woodtek. I went to Woodworker's Supply web site and looked it up. I like John Deers so ordered it. Well it made sense at the time. I love the lathe. It is robust for sure. The tailstock is heavily built as is the rest of the machine. Good range of speeds and belt changes are done in seconds. Everything is very smooth. I think Woodcraft has made the Jet, Nova and Rikon so very well known. I don't know of anyone that has one aside from me that has a Woodtek. Not too worried about warranty as I can't imagine anything outside of a bomb that can hurt it.
  21. A Horrible Fright router controller for less than $15 will work as long as your motor uses brushes. I use them on several tools. The hex screw I can't help with.
  22. Locking casters would be OK but so far the saw is rock solid. Used it a couple of hours this morning without a problem. However, should it want to move I just back it up a few inches to touch the wall. Also, the casters were less than $3 each.
  23. AGREED! I am on several forums and this is by far the friendliest form I've found.
  24. GOT 'ER DONE! It's finished. I got the casters mounted. Straight casters on the back and swivel casters on the front. It is so nice to move it effortless. It also gets the table closer to my face for better viewing. Shop is coming together. With colder weather coming hopefully I can spend a little more time there.
  25. I just looked up Bushton's website and they only show leg extensions and not casters on their accessory page. I may have to call them now that harvest season is over.
