  1. Hi Jim: Welcome to the Village. Bruce Minneapolis
  2. Hi Brady: Very nice first piece. I'll bet cutting through that knot was fun. Have you discovered the free practice patterns? Here is one of the many that can be found online. http://www.scrollsawgoodies.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/TCF0003_Practice.pdf I am relatively new to Scroll Sawing and spend time away from my saw pursuing other interests. When I take on a new project, I start with the above practice pattern to retune my skills before I start my project. This was suggested by several of the experienced scroll sawers on this forum when I was struggling and helped me a lot. When I was working with my grand kids and they were having problems with tight corners I discovered a practice trick that helped them immediately. I drilled a very small hole just big enough to insert the blade in the practice piece and, with the saw running, had them rotate the workpiece with light pressure against the back of the blade. The objective is to be able to do this without making the hole any larger. This is the skill that seems to frustrate beginners. Clean tight corners are essential to a well-executed project. You are off to a great start!! I look forward to seeing more of your work as you get your sea legs. Bruce

I was stationed in Corpus Christi in 1971 as a flight student and again in 1975-1977 as a flight instructor. At that time, Harlingen was where the Confederate Air Force was located and it was perfect for us to have our students plan a training flight to there, shoot some instrument approaches, stop and admire the antique warbirds and then return to NAS Corpus Christi. I thoroughly enjoyed Texas : great people, great weather, outstanding hunting, (white wing dove hunting in Brownsville is nearly a state holiday), fishing, golf and any other outdoor sport you can name. Again, welcome to the Village!!!! Bruce

  25. Hi Charlie: I saw the red one in the header and thought it was a private message. I clicked on it and then realized it was the chat room so I backed out. It must have come up as me entering the chat room. Sorry about that. I am not actually anti-social. I was pressed for time. Bruce
