  1. Just kidding about the saw dust.
  2. That is unbelieveable!! How long and how much saw dust??
  3. Dick, Nice job on both. Portraits can be tough.
  4. Wonderful cutting! The color and grain of the wood make it pop!
  5. I was in a quandry lately as to a new scroll project. I was wandering through pinterist and came across a train picture I really liked. I had done Alex Fox's pattern and tried my hand on this one. My wife put it into grayscale with Photo Shop and I started eating pixels with MS 3D paint. (too lazy to learn a new program) It took a few days for the design and then off to the copy store. Cutting took about 2 days. I still have put on a finish but it has been too humid to do any spraying. I hope things dry up and cool down soon. 1/8" BBPW on 1/4" backer.
  6. Jerry, Stop goofing off! I've been wondering what you have been up to lately. You've actually been busy! They look great, Love the contrasting wood colors on the scroller.
  7. She bought that one on the floor.
  8. She wanted another white jewelry box to match the one I had already made. I have got the making of the joint box sides and steaming of the curved top down. Making and fitting the draws takes more time. I scroll the front of the draws from the front of the box before I glue it together. I use lap joints to assemble them. She did her great painting of hydrangeas. On to the next project when it gets a little cooler in the shop.
  9. Ray, you are right. It's hot here in SC and the high humidity makes it very uncomfortabe in my garage workshop. We have have not had rain in almost 2 weeks. We took some vacation days in Charleston (great!) Just on the edge of the beginning of the HOT season there. I'm also between projects. Finished another jewelry box for my wife but she needs to finish painting it before I post it. Also assorted doctor appointments. Epidual for back/numb toes issue. Seems to be working. Another Dermo visit. Time to hog out some more flesh for assorted skin cancers. Used to it. Where was that suntan lotion back in the mid '50's? Need somemore inspiration for when things cool off. Maybe something from Charleston.
  10. Well I'll be! You did sneek it in. Not bad looking either!
  11. Wow! Very impressive shop! Wondering where you store the wood and what you use to cut it. I did zoom in very close. Lots of famous people but I didn't find a self portrait?
  12. Wow! That came out great! Love the side pipes and the guy driving. Finish is beautiful. Just need to hear the roar!
  13. Wonderful work on a very intricate pattern. Nicely done.
  14. A beautiful rendering of a fantastic picture. Amazing detail on the guitar.
  15. Fraank, that is stunning! Amazing colors! You knocked it out of the park!
  16. Paul, you know I have been doing that for several years with great results. The prints are 17 x 11 on cards stock. I did the Jeep Wrangler for the manager of my UPS store a few months ago and he still hasn't charged me for the prints I have brought in so far. That has paid for me eventhough they are cheap to print.
  17. My wife's niece from Germany comes to visit every spring in conjunction with a Pharma convention in Chicago. She is a private pilot and also a Lufthansa Nut! I made a JU-52 plaque for her a few years ago and decided to try something bigger. DO-X Was the largest and heaviest aircraft of the time in 1929 and could hold over 100 passengers and did fly from Europe to NY. The cabin was very luxurious to include smoking rooms, dinning room and sleep cabins. It had 12 counter facing engines. Even with 12 engines, it was considered under powered. It had a short operational life, being retired in 1937. I have included a short YouTube Link. Lots more on Wikkipedia. Plaque is 1/8" BBPW and 1/4 PW backer painted black.
  18. Thanks Marge. She liked it so much, she wants me to do another one (in black) [I'm started to feel boxed in]
  19. Nicely done Matthew. The cutting isn't as bad as mounting all the lights. Volker Arnold has some great patterns including pyramids.
  20. Jerry, thanks you for your kind compliments. My wife and I are still enjoying the challanges of a fun project. Its still good to be able to use our heads and hands together to create work that is appreciated.
  21. Normally I would have put this into the "Other Woodwork" but I did do some scrolling on this project. I I did the cutout for the 2 draws in the front and the funiture feet also. My wife said she had enough black Jewelry boxes and wanted to try and paint a pattern on white. The frame is 1/2" poplar. I've made enough of these that it went pretty quick. I used my I-Box jig to cut the sides. I did cut out the draw dividing piece in case one of the draws got stuck. Steam bended the top with 1/8" BBPW and used Titebond III to glue it down to the top. I always build a second joint box section for the top. Mark out the radius on the ends and cut the correct angle on the front and back on the scroll saw, then assemble and glue the pieces. I used this to clamp (many clamps) to connect it all together. Lots of spray white paint and my wife used her one stroke painting technique on the top and inside of top. Back to regular scrolling for my next project.
  22. WHOW! Barb, that boat is a stunner. I am humbled. You always surprise me.
  23. A beautifully done project. Love the contrasting colors. Now get out to Nova Scotia or Maine and enjoy the real thing. I hear the Lobster and clams are great this time of year.
  24. Wonderful Job on the cutting. Charles Dearing does a fantastic job on his patterns. I have done a few of his cars and the detail is always great.
  25. Great investment !
