  1. Thanks Marge. She liked it so much, she wants me to do another one (in black) [I'm started to feel boxed in]
  2. Nicely done Matthew. The cutting isn't as bad as mounting all the lights. Volker Arnold has some great patterns including pyramids.
  3. Jerry, thanks you for your kind compliments. My wife and I are still enjoying the challanges of a fun project. Its still good to be able to use our heads and hands together to create work that is appreciated.
  4. Normally I would have put this into the "Other Woodwork" but I did do some scrolling on this project. I I did the cutout for the 2 draws in the front and the funiture feet also. My wife said she had enough black Jewelry boxes and wanted to try and paint a pattern on white. The frame is 1/2" poplar. I've made enough of these that it went pretty quick. I used my I-Box jig to cut the sides. I did cut out the draw dividing piece in case one of the draws got stuck. Steam bended the top with 1/8" BBPW and used Titebond III to glue it down to the top. I always build a second joint box section for the top. Mark out the radius on the ends and cut the correct angle on the front and back on the scroll saw, then assemble and glue the pieces. I used this to clamp (many clamps) to connect it all together. Lots of spray white paint and my wife used her one stroke painting technique on the top and inside of top. Back to regular scrolling for my next project.
  5. WHOW! Barb, that boat is a stunner. I am humbled. You always surprise me.
  6. A beautifully done project. Love the contrasting colors. Now get out to Nova Scotia or Maine and enjoy the real thing. I hear the Lobster and clams are great this time of year.
  7. Wonderful Job on the cutting. Charles Dearing does a fantastic job on his patterns. I have done a few of his cars and the detail is always great.
  8. Great investment !
  9. That came out great. The lighting and background make it really stand out.
  10. After finishing my complicated train project, I needed somthing quick to cut. I rambled through some of the clip art I had and found the F-16. I only had to add a few bridges. Pretty easy to cut. Quite a bit of info on the F-16 in wikipedia. It's been in production since 1974 and over 4600 produced. Over 25 countries operate the aircraft. Local interest for me. Locheed Martin moved the production of the aircraft from Texas to Greenville SC at Donaldson Field in 2019, just south of the city. (a few miles from me) Side note of interest: I was sitting on the back deck and this bird landed on the Hummingbird feeder. Its a Rose Breasted Grosbeak. It is rare in our area. He was heading north from South America. Pretty bird.
  11. Thanks Alex. A really great pattern!
  12. Thank you Marie. I got some 0 Pegus Skip tooth blades from Denny at Artcraft. Went through 10 blades that went dull but only one broke. Tried to use 0 spiral blades on the trees but since the holes were so close, the gap fill up so fast I could not see the line. No luck with Spiral Blades, I'm just a skip tooth guy.
  13. Alex, Thanks for the great patten. Some areas were a challange but it was a joy to cut. I did add some bridges when I thought some pieces would become too floppy. I actually stack cut this to make 2. No harder than cutting one. 1/8" BBPW on 3/16" backer. Shellac and Gloss Lacquer finish.
  14. Denny, those came out great!
  15. Nicely done, The veining detail adds to the apperance of the project.
  16. Welcome to the village. You will find lots of help here. One of the finest scoller and pattern maker is from Spain. Pedro from finescrollsaw.com. Amazing patterns.
  17. Alex You always impress me with your creative projects. Right now I am "chugging" along on your train pattern. My wife bought it for me as a Birthday project. Paint/coating the orb with a reflective color and adding a LED light would make for a very nice Christmas ornament.
  18. Not really cool, just running out of wall space for plaques.
  19. Funny how an old crank can bring back fond memories.
  20. Just dropped off Chase's plaque. Very happy with the results!
  21. Paul, that is a pretty impressive back story! I'll call you the next time I need a fill in copy for one of my projects. That was quite a story.
  22. I have been using my local UPS store to enlarge and clean up my patterns and the manager, Chase, has been very helpful. Told him I would cut a car for him. He has a Jeep Wrangler Sport and loves to drive it on Folly beach in SC near Charleston. All the hardware on the front and the treads on the tires were the hardest part to cut. The rest is mostly straight lines. I did the "Paint-in" method on the tires and around the windows. I'll give it to him tomorrow when I drop off some packages for my wife. BTW, I tried to buy a Jeep pattern from H. Botas and even emailed him and looks like he has stopped selling them. He mentioned about going through some changes? on Facebook.
  23. Dick, that is absolutely stunning! I have to believe that was a difficult project especially since its a one-off. Well done!
  24. The original Photo. This was the hardest project I've ever done. I am not a designer, I'm only a pixel eater using MS 3D paint. Too old to learn newer software. Paul did fantastic cutting. Something to be very proud of. It only took him so long to finish because he kept going back to playing his street organ, Ha!
  25. I agree, better than the aerodynamic turtles we have today.
