  1. Thank you Kevin. It's good to see you back on the site.
  2. I had seen a few versions of this car but want to try my own hand at it. I kept it fairly simple. The 71 Dodge charger had a V8 440Ci/475HP engine with a 4 barrel Carb. R/T designated "Road and Track" and included a upgraded handling package. Dodge wanted to dump all the extras into this car because EPA restriction would kick-in in 1972 and actually started the twilight of the "Muscle Car"era. Cutting is 1/8" BBPW on a 1/4" black painted backer with shellac base and Gloss Lacquer finish.
  3. Astounding! Perserverence pays off. Time to go back to something more simple to rest your eyes.
  4. I've always wanted to scroll a sailing ship but never could find a pattern I liked. Searched the web and found a drawing and modified it to be scrolled. All the lines are double cut. The rigging and some of the sails and ship plank were a little complicated. The stem is also a peninsular and I was glad when I finally glued it down to the backer. The bridges were very small but luckily I didn't have any break throughs.
  5. Barb, that cameout great!
  6. You Done good and opened the door to your scroller future!
  7. Today, Karol and I went to the supermart. Bryson was totally surprised and realy appreciated the gift.
  8. OK, I did these boxes several years ago and they are some where on the SSV site. I used my I-Box joint tool to make the sides and a 1/8" outer bit with a template to create the inlays. Hardest part was making the splayed tops. Eventually found a site with info to make it happen. Angles.pdf splayed_miters.pdf
  9. Dick, a really great job and very nostalgic. I keep looking at the back wheels. Do they have a bridge and painted or did you just glue them into place?
  10. My Wife knows someone that is retired and works at the local Ingles supermarket as a bagger that recently sold his 1969 Camaro Supper Sport. He says he still misses it. I found a pattern on the internet and added some bridges and cleaned it up and started cutting. Definitely have to sequence my cuts because things can get fragile and a little floppy. The cutout of the Camaro and SS text came out in one piece and attached it to a board. We’ll surprise him next week when he's back to work. Go figure, 2 Camaros in the last 2 weeks!
  11. Thanks Marg. He was very surprised and really appreciated it.
  12. Dick, that came out great! lots of tricky cuts!
  13. One of my neighbors has a '67 Camaro that is in beautiful condition but is considering selling it. Found a pattern in the pattern library and started cutting. I'll give it to him next week.
  14. Beautiful Job. Love the contrasting colors and crisp cutting!
  15. Fantastic job on the box. Love the colored backing.
  16. I purchased a Excalibur 16" 6 years ago directly from my local Woodcraft in Greenville SC and had it shipped to the store so there was no freight charge. I believe there is a Woodcraft in Raleigh on Captial Blvd. You may want to talk with them. I would expect they would do the same if the Pegas is not in stock. I believe my saw was made in Tiawan and has been reliable though I eventually replaced the blade hold downs with Pegas. They work great! I can't speak to the other models mentioned. I went from the stone age to the space age when I sold my old Craftsman and bought the Excalibur. The angle head is a real plus. It's always better to focus on the joy of cutting rather than the "could a, should a" of a tool that doesn't perform.
  17. So muss es sein!
  18. Thanks Todd, I blue taped the edges and glued and folded it all together. I also used 2 90 degree plastic guides I got from Rockler. I used a 1/4" round over bit on the router to smooth the edges and the inside of the box. I used a 15 lb weight on the top when I glued it down (CA glue) I should use a sealer but I just used a lot of gloss lacquer.
  19. The panels are all oak. The sides are getting a reflection from the glass in the front door.
  20. My wife wanted me to make another tissue box. I found a nice fret pattern for the sides. Made from 1/4" oak and fits the standard size Kleenex Tissue Box 8.2 x 8.4 inch / 20.8 x 21.3 CM. It has a 1/4" gap on the bottom for easier lifting. Finish is shellac/ gloss Lacquer.
  21. Happy Birthday Ray. May the sawdust be with you!

Thank you. Still above he grass.

  22. Ray, I use Stick Fast CA glue and I am happy with its results. I buy it from Woodcraft but it is available from Amazon also. I buy the medium size bottle and the medium set up speed. I used the accelerator if I need a 3rd hand when gluing parts together but mostly holding parts together for a minute or two does the trick. If I am not quick enough to put the cap back on, the tip can get clogged up and I'll just use a very small drill to open up the hole. Heck, its also great for cuts! I was cutting up some boxes with a utility knife and slipped and cut across the top of my thumb and cut through the nail. Squeezed it all together and put a drop of CA on the cut and it healed up in 3 days. ( DO NOT THE ACCELORATOR!! That will really hurt!) They have been using it in hospitals for years. It's been my go to CA glue.
  23. They are all great but the eyes on the lion are amazing!
  24. Wow! those are outstanding!
  25. Thanks Rolf. Great helpful chart.
