  1. I just ordered one to go with my new saw so I should be good for a while. Now all I need is finding some time for sawing...
  2. Rolf, Once I get some time in on it I will let the forum know my thoughts, sorry to say I did not get to the saw this weekend except to get it out of the box. I had to do some insulation this weekend so my saw time did not happen. Richard
  3. I know these are pricey and most people are using drill press’s or rotary tools for drilling holes, but I was wondering if anyone has one of these or have used them and if they liked them besides the price?
  4. I was just wondering what size blade would you recammend to cut this out with? I think I will be using 1/8 '' ply and maybe double it up to make two at a time. This is a Steve Good pattern. The pattern is 14'' x 7''
  5. Here is one I saw on line that looked pretty good for not much money? https://www.amazon.com/HomeRight-C900146-Spray-Shelter-Paint/dp/B07BSRSFBQ
  6. So that's what happened to my stand.
  7. I have been reviewing new saws ( as some may remembered from my posts) and had decided on the Pegas scroll saw. I had contacted Denny Knappen (member here) from ArtCrafters and ordered the saw from him. I got a very good price from him and also the saw was at my door with in just a couple of business days. Talk about fast service. Can’t wait to get it out of the box and trying it. Unfortunately it will have to wait for the weekend, but either way its in my shop so that’s a plus. 8. The sound boxes do have vents. They do a baffle system as seen in the video and seem to work from comments I have read, but I am not sure how long they are running the vacuums as most state here they are running them for long periods of time?
  9. You can buy after market HPA filters for the Fein for about $50.00 from filter company's. and if you have a loud shop vac you can build a sound cabinet out of scrap materials for not much money . Just a couple of other options to consider. I have a Fein and like it . I also have a few shop vac's that I have inherited over the years that I plan on building sound cabinets for and use them as I recently had to down size into a basement.
  10. Click on topic ( above ) to open link to some of the questions I asked about the saws you are asking about. I am going with the Pegas saw. I am waiting to see what kind of deal will be out there for black friday
  11. Denny, thanks for the quick review ... Please keep your experiences with the saw coming.
  12. I would get one of the infrared heaters as they work great and don't cost a lot to run, A lot less than just a standard electric heater like yours looks like.
  13. In review of the saws I have decided on getting the Pegas saw thanks for all the info. (Now were to buy) But also, as I have reviewed the Pegas saw I have seen different videos on the saw and the one had a phone number for the manufacture so I thought I would call them to ask some questions. In turn they gave me Bob their rep’s number as he is there technical person and has 15 years’ experience in the scroll saw industry and stated he would answer any questions on the saw. He seemed like a great guy with plenty of knowledge. Just a few things we talked about… 1st the top is epoxy coated 2nd the saw has heaver insides than the competitors no mater if they come from China or Twain 3rd there bearing are all sealed steal type. Also, we talked about the vacuum system and he stated they are working on a new aftermarket top and bottom vacuum system that may be available. Plus, I had talked to him about the table size and he stated that a number of people have asked for a larger table but do to cost it would put there saws price over some of the competitors with similar saws, but he did saw they might possibly offer a larger table as an aftermarket product. One suggestion that was offered on the forum was to re-drill the top and pull it forward and the rep stated that would probably work but then your new holes would not be epoxied and could rust. (I would not be too worried about it as that can be easily fixed with wax as most do now with there tops. Also, the manual is being re written as it went threw three language changes …Just thought I would post a few interesting facts that I have learned.
  14. No the Quilted fancy patterned paper. lol In that case count me in...
  15. Or build your own?
  16. Single ply or two ply?
  17. Kevin thanks for the lead as the last one would have been great if it did not sell so fast but I am only looking for the Seyco or Pegas as I know the Hegner is a great saw but just not for me. Thanks for checking
  18. He just sent me a e-mail stating it was sold last night...
  19. I just sent him an e-mail to review the saw (3 hours away) I will see if he responses? Thanks for the lead.....
  20. Thanks for all the replies, at this point I am liking the Pegas the best as I feel I can get around the table size with just a add on table or try to re-drill and bring it forward. Dave , have you ever seen or used the Seyco in person and or what made you go with the Pegas?
  21. I saw that and it does not seem much of an explanation ..... I think hanging like it does is good with less stress on the saw front but I think the rack and pinion knob would be easyer to use. I know Steve Goodal from the Scrollsaw Workshop made a wood gear that he posted on his forum for the saw. not sure how well it works but here it is in his video.
  22. Also in thinking about it the slip on table idea might be a good option. Who here uses a add on table and what or how did you make it?
  23. Ray , that sounds like an interesting Idea, I think that would be a good solution . I like your thinking, The only thing in my mind would be if it had ribs under the table and if they would line up?
  24. I am also not talking about the size of the table.. but about the short distance from the blade to the front edge of the table.. In review the Seyco states about 8'' and the Pegas states 4 1/4'' , Scrappile states 7.5 inches. and he has one so lets say its about 1/2 the amount . I did measure my Dewalt and it is 8'' front to back as well.
  25. Thanks for all the replies. First off one reason I was looking at the Pegas saw was of the blade clamps and not having to change them out (hassle and cost)? As far as availability of parts I believe they are both somewhat the same as they come from the same areas of origin for the basic parts, but the Seyco saw does have some different parts that may be a problem down the road. I did buy a saw from Ray about 25 years ago or longer (it was one of the original Black Excalibur saws that were made in Canada with the none tilting heads ) and I know Rays customer service is a cut above but I am concerned some that if Seyco ever closes its doors ( Ray’s getting up there in age) will parts be available? I do like the idea of the larger table but I did want to try cutting some bowels on the scroll saw and I know you need the extra angle on the table to do that. I guess I am just concerned about how small the front of the table is on the Pegas as I have never used a saw with that small of a table before and it seems everyone likes the larger table. For those that have used saws with the smaller tables (Jet, Excalibur, King, )are the small front tables a problem?
