  1. I am thinking about selling my 21’’ DeWalt type one scroll saw and up grading to one of these saws only (sorry I am not interested in any others). I am torn as they both get good reviews. I like that the Seyco has the larger table like my DeWalt has but the Pegas has the better blade holders and can tilt more. Currently I don’t specialize in any kind of sawing but I like versatility. I have been doing some marquetry as of late and did use my DeWalt for that but want to do multiple things. For those that have used, seen, or have both or have thoughts on which one please help me decide on which one tilts the scales. I know Steve Goodal has given both great reviews and that just makes it more confusing. Thanks
  2. Dennis , Steve Good just bought a Wenn and will be reviewing it on his site soon? You may wont to wait and see what he comes up with.
  3. Location helps, as some one may have one here on the forum that they maybe willing to let go...
  4. Plus one on used...
  5. Ray If you really want to learn marquetry I would suggest getting the Paul Schurch videos they are great to learn from. I took one of his classes also so . He only has a few left, so if you go to his web site you can still get them but he stated once gone there gone, Good luck with learning. He teaches the stacked or packet cut method.

  7. Did not see a price .....
  8. The Pegas and the Seyco seam to get the best reviews in this kind of tilting head saws.
  9. I agree they are a specialty saw. I just thought I would post it as I thought it was kind of cool for what it does. Definitely a very limited use but it seems great for those uses.
  10. Anyone seen this new Pegas-scroll-band-saw? What do you guys think? https://www.youtube.com/redirect?v=1vmDVcx87T8&redir_token=xzvrVzYgVPQA0gwfhLXISRp8uad8MTU2ODI0ODI5NkAxNTY4MTYxODk2&q=http%3A%2F%2Fscrollsawer.com%2F2019%2F04%2F01%2Fwe-review-the-new-pegas-scroll-band-saw%2F&event=video_description Once open> ....... click on go to site...
  11. The 3 way tables in my area seem to sell in the $150 range...
  12. Jim I like the new design .... great job.
  13. Go to your local thrift store as they sell old tee's and such as rags in large bags for cheap...
  14. I love Steve Good works and all that he does for the craft but In my opinion the 3-D pattern really make a differance.
  15. This pattern is called “ Opposing Forces Bookends”. The creators of this pattern are Fred and Julie Byrne. They live in Cambridgeshire, England and it seems that their web site no longer works? In review it also does seem hard to find their patterns. I got this one out of a copy of Scroll Saw Woodworking and Crafts Magazine Issue 34 spring 2009. They still sell them at Fox Chapel Publishing and the code # is SSW34 / price $7.00. They had a sale not too long ago on all back issues and I picked up a couple of different old ones that seemed interesting and the “Opposing Forces Bookends” seemed kind of cool so I got it. I made mine out of pine and black walnut. Let me know if you need anything else or if you can’t get one from them.
  16. Here is a project I just completed. It was my first time doing 3D scrolling.
  17. Check then out at the library for free and see if you like them. If so order them up. My library gets me books from all over the country. I don’t know how many books over the years I have reviewed this way and have save a lot of money.
  18. Ray In looking at your ceiling can't you just lay two 2 x 4's to each side on the shelf's and just set the Wen unit on top in the middle of the room ? Just a quick observation?
  19. Ray thanks for the tips. This is the first time trying a 3-D pattern, but they are just a simple design as they are profiles of human body's. Richard
  20. When cutting 3-d patterns does it matter what side you cut first?
  21. Dave, after cutting all the bands they are glued back together as they are a scarf joint. Then you rotate each band 180 degrees and then insert the stakes.
  22. Monroe Dutcher Basket I recently received the two Monroe Dutcher basket books that I had post I was looking for from Scrappile as he was very generous to send them to me, he stated he felt he would not get to making them and wanted someone to use them. He also stated that another person on another wood working site was looking for one of the designs as well. He asked that if he sent them to me if I could please send a copy of the napkin basket to the other woodworker that was looking for them as well. I told him I would be more than happy to. Well he made one and so did I. This was my first attempt to make one of these kinds of baskets. https://www.google.com/url?q=http://lumberjocks.com/projects/371961&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwiTq-WG-bDaAhWo7YMKHWu9B8oQFggKMAM&client=internal-uds-cse&cx=017914489645407774653:gwwk-zif3wk&usg=AOvVaw3FloTpqAejw-iIzGBSUqTd Thanks again Scrappile
  23. Tony / MrsN, thanks for the great link on the history of the Excalibur Scroll Saws. That pretty much tells it all. In review on the plate it does not say were it was made? But with your information it does tell me the approximate age that I was looking for. Not a big deal as to were it was made. Thanks Richard
  24. Green EX-21 Excalibur Scroll Saw Age? I have an opportunity to purchase an Excalibur scroll saw it is one of the green ones. My questions: Are the green ones still made in Canada? Also, I have the serial number and it is 21336410? Does the 10 on the end signify the year? Any help on identifying the age is appreciated. Thanks
