  1. This months scroll saw club challenge was useful. I wanted to make something new. I have phone stands, iPad stands, oven pulls, boxes and baskets…. i wanted a new clock! The clock stands 19” tall and is a Steve Good design The clock was made with 1/4” walnut and I finished the body of the clock with Walnut tinted Danish oil, the scrolled embellishments were dipped in natural Danish oil. I know it’s not perfect, I am still happy with it. I don’t usually do this type of thing!
  2. I don’t sell them too often. It does make people stop and look!
  3. I struggle with compound cutting. I think this thread will be very helpful!
  4. Inspiring!
  5. My husband was a former crane operator. He LOVED this!
  6. People and Pets, compound cut ornaments, word art. Small boxes, baskets, This is just a sample. I usually set up three, 8 foot tables.
  7. It was a fun time. We get together every year! It’s also a fund raiser for the club. I do a good job at avoiding the camera!
  8. I also typically only paint one side of the backer. That might have added to the stress. Maybe..
  9. It was nice. I received flowers!
  10. Typically I use E6000 to glue the backer and I weight the piece down.
  11. A long narrow board fastened to the top of the wall with cup hooks screwed in along the length of the board. Put an eye hook and cording in the top of the ornaments. That can hold a lot of ornaments.
  12. I had a piece of 1/8” plywood warp. It was about 10 X 18”. I got it wet, layer it on some towels and weighted it down by putting heavy stuff on it. The next day it was fine. I cut my backer out of it. Painted it and glued it to my project. The next morning it had popped off of the plaque I had glued it to and the plaque broke in the process. So, can it warp? Yes! Can you fight it? Well, you can try!
  13. I only use Spiral blades for fretwork patterns like Charles Dearing and Charles Hand design. They can be intense. Then I use a combination of flat or spiral in the same pattern depending on the cut. I use flat when I can and spiral when it makes sense.
