I'm happy with this backer. Hand-sketched, hand-stained (small paintbrushes). I think the grey actually stands out better on the stars than WeatheredOak does on the strips, so I may go over the stripes again tomorrow, do them in the grey as well. Its REALLY light grey, unless I layer it on thick, so it gives a "weathered white" (if that's a thing? No idea...I only had the 8-box of Crayons as a kid, supplimented by whatever I could swipe from a restaurant) effect and lets the eagle stand out better. Now for a frame....yay....frames....

I've started ordering the #1 and #3 Pegas MG blades by the 144-pk from Bear Woods. FD blades are good, but they tend to cut slower and seem to pull to the side a few degrees, depending on which direction I have the blade in (their reverse-cut blade doesn't have reverse teeth at the bottom, its like every other tooth is reversed...makes it easy to know which direction to mount the blade, but slows the cutting a bit, it seems). Not a problem, but I have to adjust for it. Breaking blades, I've found, is usually less of a hardware problem and more of a meatware problem. Overtightening, too loose, mount not cranked down tight enough, or I've run the blade for way too long and it got heated up and brittle from the friction. I have some FD spiral blades and have discovered that the 3/0 and 2/0 blades (tiny!) tend to snap whenever my eyeball rests on them for more than 2 seconds, so when I do opt for a spiral, its usually a #1 or larger.

Fresh off the saw. Literally. Pattern and tape are still in place, outer edges need to be cut. Double-stacked this one, and good thing, there's so many delicate cuts that the bottom edge started to catch on the edge of my saw's table and delaminated in several spots (had to be careful, cuz this tended to send the sawblade shooting off in odd directions, and NEVER into waste wood). The top piece will be fine, the bottom may be really fancy firewood. Pattern by Grampa, available in the pattern library.

Nice! I always get a chuckle out of this, we have a furry doorbell as well, lets us know when the pizza guy arrives....or Amazon delivery....or someone walking by...or a sketchy-looking leaf blowing down the street.......

Nice! Saw those in the magazine, been toying with the idea of copying them and cutting them....then I look at the (large) stack of patterns I already have taped/attached/drilled/ready-to-go....

I wasn't too sure on the stain when I originally put it down on the planes, but after it dried (and was a lot less glossy....plus a layer of sanding dust that blew over it...oops...), I'm happy with it. Good color, but you still get the wood grain showing through.

Basically a deep-fried burrito. Its something Deadpool was always going on about, kinda like folks who love bacon or tacos. His thing was chimichangas.

Nicely cut! Be careful, though....if you make a mistake, you can't just throw those away. They'll keep coming back to haunt you.

I'm not a big fan of making frames. This seemed like....an easier alternative.
