  1. Very nice!!!! Just out of curiosity, what finish do you use to make it food-safe?
  2. Yep! Posted two HP patterns the other day, here's the post with both patterns linked in it.
  3. Nice!!!
  4. Cut this out of some 3/4 ply I had left over after building a twin bed for my daughter. Pegas #7MG blade, Minwax Cherry stain.
  5. Today, we would have diagnosed it as severe PTSD. Coupled with the way he was treated when he returned, being a Native American, plus the general public mentality that men should ManUp and not show that they're bothered by something meant he had nowhere to turn for help. By all accounts, when sober, he was a great guy. James Bradley's "Flags of Our Fathers" follows the six men in the photo through the battle for Iwo Jima, and the survivors afterwards (follow-on "Letters from Iwo Jima" shows the battle from the Japanese side, and is an eye-opener to the mentality of the IJA's senior NCO and officer corps). Its an excellent read.
  6. Love it!
  7. ::salute:: To all those who paid the ultimate price.
  8. Oooooooooooooooooooo....I'd love to see a pic with the blacklight running!!!!
  9. Awesome!!
  10. Nothing says "Spring" like flowers. So....a Steve Good pattern I've had laying around for a while.
  11. Had this pattern printed out and sitting around, thought I'd get on it after doing a couple of harder projects. Nothing like a quick, easy, fun cut to get one back into the spirit of sawdust! 3/8 BBply, used a Pegas #1MG blade. Backer is stained Minwax Honey, pattern is stained Cherry (mostly for the sides) and then top was painted using some paints my daughter had laying around....just thought I'd give it a try, painting a project instead of leaving it a solid stain color.
  12. Nicely scrolled! Lots of curves as well as sharp pointy corners on dragons. Welcome to the most therapeutic addiction you'll have.
  13. This. Is. EPIC!!!
  14. Modified this Steve Good magazine holder pattern a bit. Stretched out the front piece (actually, just cut three of them end-to-end, one long piece), added two additional dividers in the middle (stack-cut 4, then notched out the front on the two middle pieces so that the front piece would fit, as the original design called for the front piece to be attached on the inside of the sides, not to the front of the sides), and opened up the back a bit (didn't have enough 1/4 BB ply to make a solid back). Were I going to make another one, I would attach the front and back pieces to the front and back of the sides/middle, as having them recessed the thickness of the ply reduced the front-to-back space just enough that some of my pattern books didn't fit. Still, it helps to clean up my office desk, so overall I'd call it a win! Lots of curves to this one, it was a fun cut overall.
  15. Nice!!!
  16. Good episode, I think it was William Shatner who played the husband in that one.
  17. My latest....I still work in the office a day or two each week (I'm in IT, and there's folks in our office who handle documents with sensitive personal data and so can't work from home, so as long as there's people, my team has one person each day rotating in the office. Otherwise we work from home and answer emails and remote in to users' computers to fix whatever needs fixing), which means that three or four days a week my commute home consists of wandering downstairs. Makes for more scrolling time (or honeydoos...).
  18. Another pattern from our Library, by Grampa. Lots of little details, I cut those first, then worked up to progressively larger cuts. Used several Pegas #1 and #3 MG blades. Cheapass 1/2" ply that I had layin around....after the next pattern, I doubt I'll ever use that for scrolling again. LOL
  19. My wife does the same. She asked me once why I didn't just turn the saw off and talk to her....I showed her how long it takes the table saw to spin down (Rigid, dang thing has NASA-level bearings in it and takes a good minute to spin down!), and how a project on my scroll saw likes to jump if the blade is still clamped in a kerf when the saw starts back up...usually with my fingers somewhere in a place that will get them smacked pretty good by the project. She makes sure to step off to the side, in my line of vision (I'm nearsighted, but have pretty good peripheral), and I'll nod to let her know I see her, and either finish up the cut I'm doing or if its a big enough area I'll cut a little loop out and park the blade inside that.
  20. Peter Falk was awesome and doesn't get the credit as an excellent actor that he deserves! Nicely cut, as well!
