  1. Yep, my spirals are all FD blades. When I first ordered them, I got the multi-pack with a dozen each 3/0, 2/0/, 1, 3, and 5's. I couldn't find any Pegas spiral multipacks in stock to get me started. I've used both brands for straight blades, but find that I personally prefer Pegas blades over FD. Maybe I'll start working down my stock of FD spirals and see about some Pegas when its time to replace them.
  2. Very nice!
  3. Its a good one for this project, for most others its got too much of an orange tint for my tastes. I prefer darker stains, like Honey, Provincial, or even Ebony. But it just seemed perfect for this one!
  4. Forgot to add, used nothing but spiral blades on this project. FD 3/0 and 2/0 blades. Lost count of how many snapped or hockey-sticked. When the blade gets that kink in the top of it, does anyone else just turn the blade around and clamp it in the other direction the next time? Or is it just me? ....or am I violating some law of the universe by doing that? My bad, if so.
  5. Another pattern from the library, posted by Grampa. Started cutting this one this past week, a couple of hours here and there in the evenings after work, and between honeydoo's on the weekend (wife went to bed early last night, so yeah, I was out in the garage after midnight, until I couldn't see which blurry hole I was threading the blade through). 3/8" BB ply, I think these were left over from the multi-layered dragon project I did before Christmas. Regardless, the pieces were big enough that I didn't need to cut them down any. Love it when stuff works out like that!!! All stains are Minwax: backer is "Ebony", eyes are "classic grey" and tiger is "gunstock". Frame (yay.) comes tomorrow.
  6. Happens occasionally. Travis is a busy guy! Another one will come up soon.
  7. I've got a large plastic storage bin full of scraps that are just waiting to be used! And I just put in an order from BearWoods for #60 and #64 drill bits, with a micro-chuck adapter. The smallest drillbit I have currently leaves relatively large holes.
  8. DC is where our country's politicians reside. So it confuses EVERYBODY.
  9. Yep, that's the video I watched (he did a Batman symbol in the video). Couldn't think of his last name to save my life!!!
  10. Well, this was a first for me. Inlay. First lesson learned from this was to select thinner wood....both pieces were 1" thick (or less....grand total was about 1 3/4" thick when stacked). Thicker wood probably needed a steeper angle, I did this at 2 degrees (more or less), following a nifty video I found on Youtube (looked suspiciously like Dave...). I had to hammer the two together. Also, most of my scraps are all the same color/flavor of wood (outer ring/wolf are red oak, I splurged and bought a board), so after rigorous sanding/filing didn't loosen the fit any, I didn't bother to go to the next step and sand them flat while joined. Just stained and pounded together. This'll definitely go on my "look where I started, and how far I've come" pile. Pattern was a pic I found on Google, its a design for guitar string pegs/tightener/doohickeys. Enlarged it, threw it in Inkscape to TraceBitmap and remove the jaggy edges, added the circle, and cut. Easy enough to cut.
  11. Yeah, I've seen that book pop up on Amazon's "Other people browsed these items" list, and finally caved. I just ordered the book. *sigh* I have enough patterns to last me through the year 2307, at least.
  12. LOVE IT!!!!
  13. Blueish-grey. It *is* Eeyore, after all.
  14. I think its just the overhead lighting. One of the backers was a tad darker (different wood, maybe?), but I used the same Honey stain on both. My overhead lights were reflecting off the one on the left a bit more, I think.
  15. Oh, I was in the rack well before 2am. It was....1:38, I believe. Plenty of time!!!! LOL
  16. AWESOME!!!!!! Mind if I ask where you found the pattern? Cuz...you know....I *really* need another pattern. LOL
  17. Finished up, glue is drying, just needs a picture hangar.
  18. I found it under the "animals" section. Can't remember which page, I was just scrolling through all the offerings and ended up downloading a good dozen or so patterns. Edit: Found it - https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/gallery/image/1297-wolf-dream-catcher/
  19. Pattern by @grampa from our Pattern Library. Looking forward to cutting many more of his patterns!!! Stack-cut two at once, and imported the pattern into Inkscape to do a bit of dynamic offset to create a backer for the piece. They're stained and currently drying in the garage (my wife gave me a long-suffering look as I wandered out into the garage at 11:30pm to do some final 320-grit sanding and staining). Wolf-dreamcatchers were cut out of 3/8" BB ply (I believe....found a couple of scrap pieces that were large enough so I didn't break into a fresh sheet) and stained with Minwax "Classic Grey" (heh....grey wolves?), backers are 1" whiteboard from Lowes and stained with Minwax "Honey". REALLY looking forward to putting them together tomorrow!!!! Well...later today, I guess.
  20. Honey is becoming one of my favorites...nice rich, warm color to it. Nicely cut!!!
  21. Nicely cut! I modded that pattern a bit (different centerpiece on the lid), overall its a fun cut!
  22. Go Navy!! Nice cutting!
  23. No Feb challenge? Just curious.
  24. Another little jewelry box, I took some of the features of his Heart box and the pattern of the Yin Yang box and made....a YinYang box. Wood was scrap 1/2" ply, glued four high and cut (made for a VERY tough cut, went through FDUR #7's like crazy). Top/bottom and bottom of drawer are 3/8 ply. Stained with Minwax Ebony and Ipswitch Pine. Dowel is 1/4". For the top, I put one of the "drawers" on the circle, traced the curves with a pencil, then just used a fine paintbrush to put the stain on. Either the lead, or the faint indention left by the pencil kept most of the stain from bleeding over, although there was a bit. Overall, I'm happy with the results.
  25. Looks good to me!
