  1. Cute pup, nicely cut!
  2. Looks good to me, I recognized him even before I noticed the frame! Nicely cut!
  3. Love the print! The 262 was actually operational in.....42 or 43, I believe, but Hitler was convinced it was a bomber or recon plane, not a fighter. Had he used it as a fighter, Europe would look VERY different today (since air superiority was one of the things that tipped the scales in the Allies' favor). This decision of Hitler's is one of the reasons I think he was one of our best assets during WW2. He piddled resources/capital/experts away on stupid miracle weapons, mis-used everything (see: 6th Army at Stalingrad), let his ego get in the way (see again: Stalingrad) and ignored or shot his greatest assets (Rommel). If it weren't for Hitler, we probably wouldn't have had to fight WW2. If it weren't for Hitler, we probably wouldn't have won WW2. LOL
  4. That dude is awesome!!! Allies learned REALLY quickly that they had nothing that could compete with the 262 in the air, but that the 262 had a VERY limited amount of air-time due to fuel consumption of the early jet engines. So they'd get word the 262's were up, and go loiter around their airfields and pick them off when they were flying slow, flat, and level on approach to land, without the 262's speed advantage and no altitude/time/fuel to regain the difference. As Patton said: if you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck. Sorry...I tend to geek out with WW2 history.
  5. Good all-round aircraft! The P47 was more geared towards ground attack (and could soak up an INCREDIBLE amount of damage), the P38 will always be my favorite.....but they all looked like they were standing still up against the Me262. Nicely cut!
  6. Very nice!!!! Love the owl one!
  7. Very nice! And congrats!!
  8. Nicely cut! I tend to balk away from those repetitive cuts (like the border), but when I do a pattern with them, I find they go pretty quick.
  9. That table actually works REALLY well as a backer. Just out of curiosity, where'd you get the pattern?
  10. Nice!!
  11. Nice! I still have my first couple of projects, just so I can look back at the starting point.
  12. I love it!
  13. Pattern:
  14. Word-within-word pattern. Instead of cutting it with straight edges, I thought I'd try something a bit different. I think I like it this way over straight edges. 1"x8" whiteboard, stained Minwax Honey. Used Pegas #3MG blades. There are some fragile bridges in some of the inner letters, but I found that, since they are pretty much cut out in one section anyway, the rest of the scrap gave the bridges enough strength that they weren't any problem. I left the scrap in place when sanding the few burrs off the back of the piece, for the same reason.
  15. Nicely done!
  16. Love it!
  17. Gotta watch out for those Ole'West hedgehogs. LOL Lone Watie had some great lines, too. "Snuk up on by a white man. That's not right."
  18. Stained up and ready to assemble. Minwax Honey, I think the backer is Minwax Oak or Ipswitch Pine. One of the backers I experimented with scorching.
  19. Well, I'd rather *eat* BBQ than scroll it, but every good BBQ needs a couple of things: dragon coasters, paper towels, a table, and a hammock to relax in during/afterwards. And for me....well...there's always books if I'm not scrollin'. Flynn seems to make it into a lot of photos. He's Dane/Bloodhound mix. As for grub...well, I'm a burger-n-brats kind of guy, leaning more towards the brats side of the grill. Found an amazing recipe for bacon-wrapped brats....basically, you cook the brats, then slice em open like a hot dog bun (keep the ends closed), jam them full of spicy mustard and shredded cheddar cheese, then use the universal kitchen duct tape (ie, bacon) to wrap them and keep them closed. Throw back in the oven for an amount of temp and time I couldn't begin to tell you off the top of my head (I've burned cold cereal, so I'm generally only allowed in the kitchen during cleanup). Pure frikkin bliss. (recipes vary, but this'll give you an idea) https://www.stockpilingmoms.com/bacon-wrapped-cheese-stuffed-brats/
  20. Tiffany was booked, so.... Put this pattern together the other day, after watching the Clint Eastwood movie on TV (yet again). This is one of the best lines in a movie full of memorable quotes ("Dyin' ain't much of a livin', boy." "You gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?") and one of the iconic poses from the movie posters. Dang thing is huge, there were parts where the distance between blade and corner of piece exceeded the 16" throat of my saw. Makes for some interesting cutting, having to run off into the waste areas and come back from the other direction. 3/8" ply, #1 Pegas MG blades (two of em), stack cut two at once. Next up, trimming the backers to size and seeing if Lowes has enough lumber to build a frame. Once I figure out a way to stain these (I'm thinking about "building" a container out of aluminum foil), these will be a dark color, probably Minwax Provincial or Honey, and the backer will be as light as I can get it. Probably do the frame dark, too. Pattern is linked here:
  21. Right in the feels. Well cut.
  22. Nice!!!
  23. Nicely done! There's something satisfying about cutting a pattern you designed from the start.
