  1. Been ultra busy with pups for a while, but now back at my saw trying to catch up on the last of my Christmas requests. cat trio + word plaque done on the scrollsaw - dog done with a router.
  2. Fantastic, he'll treasure it always

  4. I have a pattern almost near the double of that dreamcatcher. I've done it with my router but your dreamcatcher is inspirational.
  5. Nice work. Letters can be tricky, but with practice you'll get there. Welcome to the addiction I
  6. Amazing !!! A gorgeous box..
  7. He's going to love that !!!
  8. Welcome to the Village, There's a wealth of knowledge on here and some lovely people always willing to help. Enjoy !
  9. Must admit I never knew you could have a 'laser' on a drill press... I just point the bit where I want it to cut and pull down. LOL, I just have a 'box' to make it easier for me to use as it brings my wood closer to the drill bit. I'm old what can I say.
  10. I agree with @ike, that's the best way, in my opinion, to go but as has been said I suppose it depends on where in the world you are and what you have at your disposal. I've used ¼" ply before now for 'portrait' style work and it's turned out fine. These 3 were done with ¼" I too use a cheap ply painted black for a backer. Or you can make a frame. Here are the three types of 'frame' I use. 1) with the 'backer' bigger than cutting, 2) Frame incorporated into cutting 3) Glued onto a large backer and then framed with another wood.
  11. Brilliant idea, thank you. I'm off to order some !
  12. Great Idea !! I once put a £50 note in a glass frame with the title 'In Emergency Break Glass' and gave it to my God daughter for her 18th.
  13. I've done this pattern before and I think you made a brilliant job of that and your daughter would be thrilled with it. Great cutting !!!
  14. Brilliant idea, I love it.
  15. Must admit I tried this pattern when my saw was out of action, but seeing yours I think I may have to try it on my saw. I did this one with my router but it pales into insignificance compared to a 'good' cut piece..
  16. I think it's beautiful and I'm sure your friends will too..
  17. Welcome to the Village. Enjoy your new addiction !!!
  18. Thanks Paul, I hope I did your pattern justice.. I did send you a msg a couple of days back.
  19. Nice one. You seem quite at home with your new saw. !

  22. Nice cutting.. I think the one on the left with just the eyes would make a great stand alone piece too. ..
  23. Beautiful !
  24. Thank You all for your encouragement, it means a lot !! After finishing it last night I thought my straight lines could have been straighter, my curves could have been neater and the frame didn't fit quite properly so I filled the gaps and to me they were glaringly obvious, however, I've had a sleep since last night and this morning it looks a lot better I really appreciate all your kind comments.
