  1. Does anyone know where I got this pattern from ? I printed it out at the beginning of this year and finally got round to cutting it. However, I have searched my files and cannot find it again. I have promised a friend 4 of these things but now I'm stuck !! I've tried Inkscape from this photo but cannot get a clear copy. Any help would be appreciated,, I've looked through the library on here but alas, it seems I'm up the creek without a paddle.
  2. Thank you, appreciate your kind words. But as for the 'Rhotens' way of routing, it's great, however, I cannot cope with ¼" bits, so I much prefer to use cnc bits. But the ideas on their videos are great. I was a little overwhelmed when Ryan Rhoten said it was 'Beautiful', praise so unexpected from him.
  3. It is done with the router Don. Just because it's 'different' and I only use one piece of wood and don't have to find a 'backer'
  4. Stunning !
  5. Thank you, yes I find controlling my small router quite easy. The cnc bits are so small and sharp it makes it easier than using regular bits. Also I like doing 'detailed' stuff which I don't think you could do with a full sized router. Well, I couldn't anyway.
  6. Yep, I was knee deep. It took me all afternoon to vac my workshop and I had to put a new filter in my box fan. Oh and I wore a white technicians coat back to front to stop the shavings and dust going down my neck
  7. I also use the cnc bits for the majority of what I do although to 'clear out' on this sign I did use a regular bit as there was so much wood to remove. But I find the cheap and cheerful cnc bits brilliant for my normal stuff.
  8. You are more than welcome my friend. Always willing to help if I can. This forum and it's people have been so good to me that it's not a lot to repay the favour. One thing I would say is that the router that Shane uses is too heavy for me to hold so I just use one of these.
  9. Thank you.. However, although I too think it would look better the way you describe, the 'owner' wants it as is,, and as my old boss used to say ''The customer is King''
  10. Thank you for your kind words Dick. Much appreciated. Here's a link to a video that a friend of mine made. It's a sign on a smaller scale but the principle's the same.
  11. After several days of contemplation mixed with terror, I tried artist brushes and acrylic but hated it, I tried 'foam rollers' too but after the first touch I chickened out . So I cut a piece of kitchen sponge and used Rustoleum paint. I wiped on a thin coat of paint over the letters being very careful to work from the inside - out and when that dried I used the same sponge to 'dab' paint all over. I didn't know if it would work as it seems like nothing the 'professionals' do but I don't think it turned out that badly
  12. It's all routed out from one piece of board. Well 3 planks glued together
  13. Well, I finally finished it !! Just a coat of 'clear' left to do. All I can say is I hope he likes it because I'm not doing another one !! 3' x 18" Going to stick to my scrollsaw for a while now, it's been neglected for too long. The router can now go back in the cupboard !!!
  14. Amazing. That took some doing, but beautifully done !
  15. Magnifiers make me dizzy so I wear a pair of glasses over my glasses works for me
  16. I think it' great. I'd struggle to cut anything that thick now let alone when I first started. Well Done. !! As others have said, perhaps changing your patterns to a grey background with red lines would help, I do this to all my patterns as my old eyes lose the blade with black lines.
  17. I too would like to wish you continuing good health. Feel free to ask any question here in the village. These good people are the reason I continue scrolling. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they share their collective knowledge freely. I went from simple silhouettes to complex fretwork with the help given on this site. As @Dak0ta52says,, Steve Good is a good place to start, or put 'silhouette' after the name of what you fancy cutting ie. ( witch silhouette) into your search engine. Enjoy !!
  18. Welcome to the village from this side of the ocean too. Enjoy, it's a great place to be.
  19. I quite liked this one I did for a friend. 20220803_222726[1].mp4
  20. We are fine, thanks for asking. Just busy with 'other' things
  21. Oh well. I couldn't make it work
  22. Glad to see you back Paul, you've been missed. Beautiful work as always xx

I think it looks great just as it is. I'd have it on my wall. !
  24. Don't know who made 'that' pattern, but if you have Inkscape it would be simple enough to do.
