  1. Nicely cut, I like it a lot. Mind you I've not even given Christmas a thought as yet. Well done.
  2. Brilliant cutting, lovely piece. I've taken to just gluing my pattern to the wood and using mineral spirits to take it off. No doubt that's not what I'm supposed to do but to be honest I've not yet noticed a difference in cutting from when I put blue tape underneath. I found taking the blue tape off the teeny tiny bits off darn near impossible with my fingers being the way they are.
  3. I think it looks great. Beautifully cut xx
  4. @stoney My problem is I don't seem to be able to get them in my clamp, they always seem to face broadside towards me instead of sliding into the clamp like my flat blades do. and they seem to snap for fun. Now I know I'm a 'newbie' at this scrolling lark, but after half a dozen blades I got quite disheartened. Oh and I was using really thin plywood. Your pieces are amazing, but alas, beyond my skill level.
  5. What did you have for supper ?
  6. No, it's an H.Botas pattern, although from what I see, most people cut it without the 'circle' , but it appealed to me as it was.
  7. So, so pretty, great job xx
  8. Just because I love learning, I sometimes look through YouTube to find interesting things. Today I found this. Has anyone tried it ? Does it work as he says? Is it worth trying ? So many questions :-). I do wish I'd found out about Scrolling 20yrs ago.
  9. I would lay odds on it being a H.Botas pattern, He has a 'facebook' page 'Custom Wood Portraits' where he has all his patterns. He only asks that you give to your local charity as payment.
  10. You must have the patience of a Saint to put all those tiny, shiny things onto your work. Nice piece, I'm sure she'll love it. x
  11. Wow, they look brilliant. Do you use a spiral blade ? I'm presuming so. I wish I could do half as well, but spirals and me don't get on. Anyway, a big Welcome to the Village, you'll love it here.
  12. Thanks everyone for such kind words. When I started with my little pin-end saw, cutting silhouettes, I thought it was great. Once I met the 'family' in the Village I thought I'd landed in Disney Land. You all opened up a whole new world to me and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
  13. Thanks Marg, Tony hasn't seen it yet, he's been away for the weekend. Must admit this pattern wasn't too hard, but the hair was a bit nail biting
  14. About 50yrs ago maybe
  15. That looks brilliant. I wish I was good enough or brave enough to try spirals again, but alas, I'd not make something as good as this.
  16. Welcome to the Village Bob. You'll get lots of help here it's a veritable fountain of knowledge, enjoy.
  17. When I first heard of Scrolling almost a year ago, I never dreamt of the fun I would have. I've done Elephants, Cats even a Giraffe but I've never attempted a human before. It's straight off the saw, no finish on it yet but overall I'm pretty pleased with it.
  18. Welcome to the Village Harry, it's a great place to be. Lots of lovely, extremely helpful people and a friendly atmosphere.
  19. No, I saw a video on YouTube of someone making a 'pretty' box on a bandsaw and thought that the 'principle' could be applied to any shape really, so I picked a 'simple' shape and gave it a go. So I made it on a whim just to see if I could.
  20. Tried something totally new this week. A little 'tray' for sweets. It's in the shape of a Bat because it looked simple enough to cut. Not sure I'd do another one, lots of sanding and then painting, which is far from being my best attribute. He's 11" wide, 8" head to tail and 2" deep. Cut on a bandsaw.
  21. Amazing, it looks great,
  22. Oh heavens, how awful for you. Take good care of yourself, you have my very best wishes for a speedy recovery. xx
  23. The cats look great, I did them last week and they didn't like me at all Did you make the 'stand' ? I think they look great on it. Did you 'freehand' the stand or is there a pattern out there somewhere.
  24. That looks beautiful Ray, your friend will be over the moon with it, I know I would
