  1. I did the same, One is sitting in my shop half made, 4 or 5 plans of different styles are there as well, all printed up ready to go but me.
  2. I just made a Santa ornament and the actuating lines are narrower then the drill bit needed to start, the smallest i have are 1/16 . If you go smaller how do you get the blade threaded, I can barley get the blade in as is. What am I missing. Not good but here is pic of the ornament.
  3. I did one, made from 3/4" oak, walnut bowtie, painted, cedar nose, painted. Stands about 8 1/2" High. Was fun, thanks for pattern. Carl
  4. I put mineral oil on mine 50 years ago, use them all the time. nothing ever happened. We don't go from the stove to trivet all the time. We put hot food in bowls and serving plates to protect wood table and Formica counter top, that what trivets are made for. Also that is why they are slotted, so as to dissipate heat.
  5. I have the Dewalt 735. I buy all my lumber rough cut, accept a small amount of pine. I had it for at least 10 years, love it.
  6. Very nice. I make boxes, I saw the scroll saw box plans but thought things would fall out or not be private. I never thought that a liner would be used, that changes everything. I will have to try one. Nice work. Carl
  7. My basement shop is warm in the winter and cool in the summer... But those stairs are the beast, and to think i used to fly up those stairs 2-3 steps at a time.
  8. Geez, you can still move it ??? Great, I will be 77 before the year ends and dread the thought of moving those heavy floor models. Jointer. TS. Sooo I will just wait till they move me.
  9. I think if you would conduct poll, you would find out that most who have a scroll saw also have a bandsaw and table saw and miter saw, unless you just want to cut plywood's. me thinks. Good luck on your search

Finished this the other day, have not done much yet since i got my used hawk scroll saw. Got tied up with other things. Hope to do a lot more looking forward. A Steve Good pattern worked out fine. I have to do the finish yet. I am all out of spray poly.
  11. I have a Hawk 226 since September, bought it for 200$. Was looking at HF, Wen , and others. I know it is over 25 years but looks brand new. After i bought it i looked at the others and they look like toys. I would try to get the price down some, seems high/ Great saw though, have no regrets
  12. I have one of those old fashion machinist vices with wood grips replacing the metal ones, I clamp small parts, and sand by hand. that may work. Carl
  13. cool.. Like it.
  14. Keep at it, you'll get the hang of it.. Really nice work.... Carl
  15. Mine is just as good as yours. Thanks for posting, that helps. Carl
  16. I believe my sears 12" band saw can accept 1/8 and 1/16" blades, i have used them. You have to change out the blocks to a non metal material because of friction. My little band saw uses a under powered motor and causes issues when cutting, that is why i only use it for cutting rough stuff down to size. Carl
  17. I just got a hawk for 225$. It runs and cuts great. I think it is an older model, Fasco motor, serial # 2242 . It has a slight surge, at times ,when i first turn it on for about 1 second, not enough of a problem for me to crawl all over it to fix it yet. I was going to buy new scroll saw, 100 -200 but i am glad i didn't because this saw is top notch. Quiet, no vibration, square cuts. I am happy with it. Carl
  18. You might want to try harbor freight, they have nice blades for half of the going rate . 32 tooth blade served me well for a long time, on my miter saw, If i wanted a great cross cut i would always use my TS. Carl
  19. Great work. Are they in use, or more for decoration. I would worry that heat would not be good for plywood, or glue, but then again i am just a worry wort. Very nice, like most of your work is. Carl
  20. If going that thin, why not just use veneer. just a thought. Carl
  21. Wow, 2 Hawks. So there is no reason why i can't do stuff like that with my hawk then. All i gotta do is walk the line, sounds easy, but i am not there yet. Carl
  22. I use mineral oil, if it is good babies bottom (baby oil) then it is good for pot bottoms. Carl
  23. I use to make pens, shaving brushes, razors, boxes, bowls. Flat work keepsake boxes, small furniture accessories. I am now taking up scroll sawing, hoping i can combine all crafts into one unique piece. I used to sell on Etsy and Ebay, gave that all up. Love my new to me RBI Hawk 226vs. Top notch lathe you have there, i just have a small midi lathe, love it. Carl
  24. I love that snoopy, got to do that one, as soon as i can. My daughter stuck a scooby doo on my tape measure when she was a little girl back in the early 70s, i still have it. it sits on my table saw but i don't use it , i just want it near by. Carl
  25. Yes i know that now, I think that was my mistake. Some of the holes were to small, but i could not go any bigger b/c it would have been bigger then the space allotted for the opening. That day i went to lowes i could not find any blades. Went to HF, they only had pins, same story at HD finally, 1/2 mile from the house, true value had two types, spiral and the #7 skip tooth. i got the last pack. After 2 hours of driving around. Sooooo needless to say i ordered some from Pegas , spiral and a couple packs of the lower #s, for now. Thanks for supporting my thought, at least i know i was half right. The saw is still on my Black and Decker work bench in the garage. Once i get it downstairs and set up they way i want it will be a lot more comfortable. Carl
