  1. I made this a while ago but it is a P-51 with the tail number and base code the same as the one this gentleman flew in 1945.
  2. Glad your still with us. Hope things work out better.
  3. Instructions are for patterns? I thought that paper was to start the fire to burn the scraps.
  4. Sorry for the sideways photo; but some fret work with the subject being my chocolate lab! Enjoy.
  5. I haven’t posted any work in a bit and thought I would share this. Was asked to make this and used Wenge. Hope you enjoy seeing it.
  6. I have been having trouble with Flying Dutchman #3 and #5's lately as well. reduced tension and ran a #7 to make sure it wasn't me. #7 did great, older blade though. In short, I believe there is some sort of problem or the wood being used is less than stellar. Less than stellar wood wouldn't surprise me.
  7. Welcome to the village! I don't know this answer myself, but am positive you will have an answer. Maybe @kmmcraftsor @OCtoolguy can answer this.
  8. Just finished this and I am thankful for the love of a lab. I am blessed to have a sweetheart. Have had a couple in the past and their love is unconditional.
  9. @OCtoolguy, if it makes you feel any better, I am still kickin' like a chicken
  10. Of Course, wouldn't be right if it wasn't.
  11. I was actually thinking of pouring some epoxy resin and then trying to shape/cut it. The only problem is it was getting out of the price range of the customer.
  12. Thank you very much! the biggest challenge was sources the different woods.
  13. All, I have been fighting some challenges to get out to the shop. Just reached a point in a project that I am thinking adding more will take away from the subject. Please tell me what you think about it. backing: sanded plywood painted patriot blue North America: Walnut Mexico: Purpleheart South America: Yellowheart Africa: Zebrawood Europe: Olivewood Asia: East Indian Rosewood Australia: Red Grandis all dipped with Teak oil. Hope you enjoy this endeavor I tackled. Took me about two months to get to this point. Probably going to have an oak border on it.
  14. Very well done for the squids and jarheads… this is coming from a zoomie
  15. @Foxfold as you can tell, I am a little slow. at least amazing Kevin is back.
  16. Welcome to the village! A lot of knowledge to be learned here.
  17. Excellent work and glad to see you at SSV.
  18. Welcome to the village!!!!
  19. Bubinga and bloodwood are stunning which makes it all worth it. On the janka scale, bloodwood is only slightly more dense, at that range, what is a couple hundred amongst hardwoods. Either way, chainsaw or TNT/C4 are all viable options.
  20. I love bubinga, padauk and especially bloodwood. I have scrolled all of them. I use a FD UR #5 and due to isn’t density, I put painters tape on the back to help with the burning. You have to cut very slow and let the blade dictate the speed. If it still breaks blades, then opt up to a FD UR#7. If that still breaks blades, take a chainsaw to it and tear it up and then go online to see if you can find those pieces there. Good luck and nice board
  21. Good luck with the recovery. I have nerve damage in both arms, so I know what you mean. I have to take my time making things and cant do as much as I would like. Just do what you can and it will come back to you.
  22. Welcome back!!!!
  23. I don’t think I would ever use it. I have a miter with a 60 tooth Diablo blade and if the straight line isn’t as long, always have sanders. There is someone though that can use this.
  24. This might not look like much, but it is cut out of Western Cedar on a 1990 craftsman scroll saw and it was my first real fret work attempt. Did it with pinned blades and three weeks of sanding and filling. I guess I was doing it like the older days. Okay, might be a reach.
  25. Ray, Do I qualify for this deal? just kidding
